Sonic The Hedgehog : What to do on a lazy Saturday.
Sonic raced through the trees, not really paying attention to where he was going. For once, Eggman had no schemes planned, due to the fact that he was in jail thanks to Sonic. Eggman had tried the " Rotten Egg" scheme, which had ended in total failure. Sonic betted though that once he got out, he would have a new idea already.
Eggman was like that.
Sonic neared a steep- sided cliff right then. He concentrated, picking up speed until he leaped over the edge of it. He seemed to fly through the air towards the other side.
Please don't make me fall, he thought. He didn't have time to race through the gorge bottom until he found a place which was suitable to climb. His hopes were high, though, as he sailed through the air. He was high up, he wouldn't lose speed that quickly.
Suddenly, a HUGE bird, like nothing Sonic had seen before, soared right above his head, not two inches from him.
" Whoa!" Sonic exclaimed as he tried to stop in mid-air before the bird hit him. His speed loosened until he wasn't heading for the other side of the cliff, but was falling down towards the bottom.
"Darn it," Sonic hissed as he fell. He was going to actually have to race along the bottom. That wasn't fair.
Suddenly, a flash of yellow caught his eye. Then he felt strong hands grasping his arms.
"I got you Sonic," he heard a child-like voice call to him. "Just hang on tight!"
Slowly, Sonic felt himself getting lifted higher up until his feet met solid ground. He was on the other side of the gorge, just like he had wanted to be. Looking around he saw Tails, his little sidekick and best friend, staring at him with worry in his blue eyes.
"Are you okay, Sonic?" Tails asked worriedly. "I didn't hurt you, did I?"
"No, I'm good Tails, thanks" Sonic said, smiling at his younger friend.
"What were you doing anyways?" Tails asked, curiosity in his voice. "Sky-Diving?"
Sonic laughed." No, I was just going for a run. Would you like to come with me?" Sonic knew that Tails couldn't run as fast as him, but it would be nice to have some company.
"Sorry, but I'm building a new machine, and I want to start building the engine" Tails looked sad, obviously afraid he had hurt Sonic's feelings by saying no.
"It's okay, some other time. See you Tails!"
"Bye Sonic," Tails called as he began flying back towards his home. Sonic watched until he disappeared from view, then turned and began racing on again.
Yes, Sonic thought, it's just a lazy Saturday afternoon.
