As the sun set just beyond the horizon of the sparkling ocean, a dark figure stalked along the sandy beaches, lost in his thoughts. As the skies transformed from the clear blue, to a deep indigo, he became one with his sorrow, again.
With each step he took, he cursed. He cursed at his life, and how it had rotted away, until all that was left was bare and broken. He cursed the one who had done this to him, who had caused it all. He then cursed himself, for letting it happen.
He found a smooth boulder, and sat upon it as he watched the sun disappear, and sighed as the moon rose from just beyond a nearby cliff. He felt the familiar uncomfortable shiver go up his spine, although he knew it wasn't just a shiver. 'No', he thought, 'it's more than that, it's the beginning of a monstrous transformation'. He closed his eyes, and let the monstrosity engulf him. He had tried fighting it, but ever since he ran away, he hadn't had access to the things he needed to protect him.
The shiver traveling up his spine turned into uncontrollable trembling that suddenly erupted all over his body. Pain shot through him in every direction like bullets through the air. He let out a roaring wail, as the hideous change was completed. He limped over to the edge of the water. When he looked into the murky waters, a monster looked back at him with cold eyes. He let out a booming howl at the full moon.
Remus Lupin took one last look at the monster he had become, and ran far into the woods, not looking back.
A/N: Sorry I haven't updated in ages, but there was a 'Major fault' in the phone line… Oh well… I'm finalizing the next chapter for "Because I Care", so it'll be up soon.
