Pairing: Brendan/May/Wally
Note(s): Inspired by Finding Nemo. Those fishes are too cute for their own darn good! Anyways, enjoy and please provide me with some proper critique. I would very much so appreciate it.
Clandestine Cut
just keep swimming, just keep swimming.
May
Your heart beats too fast, like a race horse charging towards the end. Thump, bump, thump. Like lilac butterfly kisses, they speed up when you glance at him. And when he smiles, they lunge towards heaven as you resist the urge to melt into a puddle of peach fairy tale lies.
He laughs and you blush, and somewhere between the two, your eyes meet. His a frozen green while yours a starry blue. He smiles and recounts the line that the television just spoke.
"Just keep swimming, May. Just keep swimming."
You flush again like the fool you are. He just smiles, obviously oblivious.
Your feelings – emotions – skyrocket to an all time high. Perhaps that darn horsea escaping into a dentist's office is what brought you together in the first place.
Brendan
You watch as she paints flashy clouds and amazing adventures and your heart sputters. It breaks, transfigures to the point of no return. It can't be fixed because, when a heart breaks it doesn't breakeven.
Her words nerve you.
"I'm going to Kanto."
Four words can make all the difference, you realize. And so can three simple ones too.
I love you.
Wally
Silver birds blur the lines of the sky and you watch. She releases her skarmory, all metal and steel, and she looks like she's about to board the train to an underground world. She's not happy, but not sad either. Like nostalgia, sweet and bitter at the same time. Bitter sweetness.
She jumps onto her pokémon, her face set in stone, and is about to take off until he comes along.
"May, wait!"
You can hear her heart stop beating. You can hear yours doing the same.
"Stop, please."
His voice is gasping, like hail puttering into a puddle of water. Tragic, yet lovely at the same time. You're sure that she can see the furious flush rising in your cheeks, but then again, you're not. Her eyes are all on him.
"What is it?"
Innocence. That's what you thought her to be, no, what you knew. She was an angel with clipped wings, a beautiful beginning, a harrowing end. But you knew that she'd gain a happily ever after once he said those words.
"I love you, May."
You see that after her ivory face collides with his that your wondrous ending is trashed. In vain attempt, you try to save it, but fail when their lips do not hesitate in caressing the other.
She had, after all, kept on swimming while you stayed in the wading pool.
end.
