Author's Note: This is a really short and complete ONE SHOT. This kind of takes place after the newest Captain America movie.
Those Thoughts
Tossing some more pieces of bread towards the chockablock of pigeons in front of him, Captain America, Steve Rogers, released a long and heavy sigh. He had some time to himself for a few minutes. That was enough time to think about the kiss that Natasha had given him before they went different paths. Ruminating about her, he actually missed the red haired woman. Steve didn't mind having her around, really. He actually liked her.
Sighing again, Steve removed himself from the bench, and due to his actions, the pigeons took flight. They sprang up into the air and spread their wings, easily flying off into the endless blue sky. Some of them carried pieces of bread in their mouths, from Steve of course. The man watched them fly away into the sky and allowed his thoughts to travel back to Natasha Romanoff and how he felt about her.
No. He most certainly did not love her. The only woman he ever really loved was Peggy Carter. He had gone to visit her not too long ago and it always made him sad whenever he saw her. It also brought anger and contemptuous ire because he didn't even get to spend a life with her. They never even got to dance together. She was too old now, too frail. Her life was almost over while his was only beginning, somewhat.
Shaking his head, Steve sauntered through the park, ignoring all of the people he walked by and all the other things that they were up to. He tried not to think about Peggy too much. It only brought him remorse and longing. Captain America didn't want to feel that way. Instead, he let his thoughts go back to Natasha Romanoff. How in the world did he even stop thinking about her in the first place? He didn't know. His mind was all over the place.
Anyway, Steve thought that he really did like the kiss that Natasha had given him before she left. It was only a kiss to the cheek, but it was a kiss he wouldn't forget and he would cherish that kiss because it meant something to him. He wondered when he would see her again. If he did see her again, he would make sure to return her kiss, but it probably wouldn't be a kiss on the cheek.
It would probably be her lips.
Still strolling about, Steve allowed himself to smile.
