The Next Generation
Summary: Buffy Summers is the Chosen One. The one born with the strength and skill to hunt and slay vampires. Is she going to with it all up just to go to college?
Chapter 1
It was in the middle of a hot, long night and Buffy Anne Summers was on vacation. She was thinking about her life as the Slayer. She was the Chosen One, the one chosen to successfully slay vampires. But now she wanted to give it all up and live a normal life. She remembered, "Into every generation, a slayer is born", but now it was time to pass the job on to someone else. This year would be her last year at Sunnydale High and next year she would be going to college. She probably wouldn't be going to college in California and she couldn't slay vampires, if she was in Boston, for example. Even the world's best slayer couldn't juggle life going to college in another state and being the Slayer. Her sister, Dawn, was a very likely candidate. All Buffy had to do is advertise the job in the town's classified, Sunnydale Classified. She'll train the Potential Slayers by bringing them on night patrol with her, killing the vampires with a stake and holy water and bringing them to the demon bar. After eight weeks of intensive training, they'll have an assessment test. She'll then choose the Slayer with the most potential. Right now she was going to go back to sleep. She had Giles home telephone number and she thought about calling him to tell him about her idea and some coyotes she saw roaming around town, but he would probably just scoff at her. Once school started, Giles would be back in his beloved library and then she could tell him about her idea and report those coyotes. Until then, it was her duty as a teenager to enjoy the hot, long nights. At first, he'll be sad but he'll come round, Buffy thought.
