Just so you all know I am uploading this on my profile for a friend of mine because her computer messed up on her. This is in no way mine and is property of Christy Sue. So all credit goes to her.I have not altered anything!

Christy:The Continuing Story

chapter 1

It was a wonderful party. She'd just finished her fifth dance of the night, and she drank in the perfect ending to a perfect day as she collapsed on the grass in a fit of giggles with her best friends ,Iris McHone and Missy O'Teale.

"I'm gonna get me some more punch," she said as she rose to her feet and headed for the tables that held all manners of meats, vegetables, and pies. "Y'all want some?"Her friends readily agreed as she maneuvered across the dance floor to procure three glasses of her mother's famous apple-peach was then she saw him. He was walking slowly across the footbridge towards the mission, watching their party from afar. She wondered who this stranger was,and why he was here at the mission at this time of night. With a quick glance to her friends, who seemed perectly content watching the residents of the Cove as they jumped and twirled across the floor to the happy tune of John Spencer's shiny harmonica, she advanced across the grounds of the mission toward the tall,dark-haired stranger.

"Howdy!" she cried as she drew near to him. "My name's Melia. Are you new here in the Cove?"

The man, whom she guessed to be between the ages of thirty and forty years old, turned to her and smiled. "Not exactly," he laughed, "I was pastor of the Mission Church for almost five years. That was nearly thirteen years ago, though. I haven't been back here since then."

Thirteen years,Melia thought. Then that must mean...

"Thirteen years?" she said, out loud now. "Then did you,by any chance, know Miss Christy Huddleston?"

The man's face cracked into an odd expression of recognition. Melia couldn't quite decide if it was a smile or a grimace. He was quick to replace it with a broad grin, though, and said, "Very well. We were actually engaged to be married for a time."

"What?" the girl choked. "Christy Huddleston? The teacher Christy Huddleston? Are you sure?"

The stranger chuckled softly. "Quite," he nodded, "I'll never forget that woman. Unfortunately for me,though,I was not the winner of the fight for her hand. She married a doctor who was born and raised here. I'm sure you know all that though,as I'm told that she still lives here."

"Yes," Melia answered. "Yes,she does. I mean they do. I mean...excuse me!" With that, she turned on her heels and fled, her eyes filling with hot tears of anger and confusion. The "stranger",whose name was Reverend David Grantland, was left standing alone and confused on the bridge.

Okay, that's that. As I said earlier, this is Christy Sue's story. Not mine. R&R! She would LOVE it!Thanks!
