"I love you, you know that right?" The blonde asked carefully with a slight wavering tone.
"Of course I do, and I love you." Willow replied and looked at Tara, furrowing her brows. "Is there something wrong?"
"Oh n-n-no of course not." She replied hastily, her stutter still present after all these years. Tara looked down at the ground and Willow knew something was wrong, something big.
"Tara, baby what's wrong? I know there's something." The redhead clasped the blonde's hand within her own and squeezed reassuringly. "Tell me."
"I just…I r-really love you and I…" Tara removed her hand from Willow's and stood up from the park bench from where they sat. The trees around them swayed in the breeze and ruffled blond Wicca's hair. She inhaled a deep breath, the freshly cut grass around them giving off a tantalizing odour and calming Tara's nerves.
There was no one around, the couple had chosen the most secluded area so that they could be alone and enjoy the beautiful day around them. It was the same park in which Tara had sang to Willow five years ago and expressed her love at an even greater level. It was the same type of day- only without the people randomly bursting into song at any given moment. And it was perfect; almost.
The blond reached into her back jean pocket and pulled out the small box concealed there. She kept it hidden behind her back for a few moments. Tara was about to reveal it when Willow spoke again.
"Are you going to leave me?" The blonde's eyes snapped up to Willow's and she saw the tears glistening in the green depths, threatening to fall. Hastily replaced the silken box back into her pocket she practically threw herself at the redhead.
"No! N-n-never!" Her hand clasped Willow's tightly and she pressed a chaste kiss against her lips. "I love you Willow and I…" Once again she stood up and for the second time removed the box from the pocket. This time there was no hesitation, no stuttering and no turning back. Tara knelt down and rested on one knee, taking a deep breath as she did so, and spoke. "Willow Rosenberg, I've loved you since the second I met you, you were different, special and I want to love you forever. Will you marry me?" Silence swept over them, the only sound was the fountain trickling steadily only a few feet away.
Tara waited, and gulped loudly. A huge grin spread across Willow's surprised features and she squealed, Willow had never squealed before, well there was that one time… Tara focused on the redhead in front of her as Willow calmed down.
"I love you so much."
"Is that a yes?" Tara smiled one-sidedly in a nervous manner.
"Of course it is!" Willow leapt up and Tara scrambled to meet her, they embraced and their lips met in a flurry of kisses. They continued like that for a few minutes before finally breaking away for air. The blonde rested her forehead against Willow's and smiled.
"I'm so glad you said yes." Tara laughed breathily.
"I was always going to say yes. You know why baby?" Willow smiled back
"Why?"
"Because you're my always."
