As always, huge thanks to MrsBates93 for her fabulous beta'ing
Three little words
Come on now, say them
One after the other
Just like he did
On the count of three
Repeat after me
"I love you."
Damn. Why did he have to do that? Now he's staring at her with sparkling eyes full of love (blergh) and that stupid smile on his face, (and she just wants to slap it off).
She hates him for this. He's just ruined everything (and he doesn't even know it). She wants to leave (but her legs are frozen), not because he's holding her (like a fragile doll), but because she knows (she has nowhere else to go).
And that realisation shocks her more than those three words (but only a little bit).
She forces a smile and averts her gaze (buying time). He's waiting patiently, (expectantly). She doesn't want to hurt him; he's so good, pure, and honest. The opposite of herself; cold, cruel, and unforgiving. He had taken her in after graduation and given her a place to stay, they had started this (relationship), at least that's what he had called it. She saw it as (just a bit of fun, nothing serious. Why did he have to ruin it?)
She knows deep down in her soul that she doesn't love him back. But she can't hurt him, not after everything he's done for her, (he doesn't deserve it). But does he deserve a lie? (Maybe he does for ruining things).

One. Two. Three…
"I love you, too."
