Chapter one;
"I'm sorry Jimmy…I just can't anymore. With college and my mum being sick…it's too much." I see tears prick in his eyes and I can see that the begging is about to start. "Please, Beth, we can get through it. I-I'll give you time. It'll be hard but it's possible. Please baby!" I shake my head. "I'm sorry." Jimmy's sadness quickly turns into anger as he storms off to his car, leaving me in the car park of a bar. I hear chuckling and turn to see a man leaning against a motorbike, chuckling. I can't help but question it, "what?" He pauses before speaking. "Poor kid, didn't know what hit him." I look to the ground, shuffling my feet. "Yeah, well, now I'm stuck here. He was my ride home. I'm Beth by the way. Beth Greene." I hold my hand out but he dismisses it. "Daryl, Daryl Dixon." I nod, "well I better call my sister to see if she'll pick me up. Nice meeting you." I walk a short distance away but realise I don't have any service. "Crap" I hold my phone up in the air and start to walk around but its short lived when I bump into a hard figure. I start to fall backwards but someone catches me. I look up and see Daryl. I pause before getting up. "Thank you, didn't even see you." He releases his grasp on my waist. "Phone troubles?" I nod, "sadly." He scratches the back of his head then chews his nail. "How far do you live?" I look around, before answering. "About 45 minutes away, I live at the old farm." He walks away and hops on his bike. "Get on" my eyes widen…"I um….I'm not really a fan of motorcycles." He chuckles once more. "Can't say that unless you've actually been on one." I raise my head up "How would you know if I have ?" the corners of his mouth twitches up. "This is the only bar that actually lets motorcycles near the place for miles and it's not exactly a massive area, I would of seen you, and I've also heard of you before." I raise my eyebrows, waiting for him to elaborate. "You're Hershel's daughter, he's the only vet in the whole town and I also took my dog to get looked at last week. Saw a picture on his desk. Assumed you were one of his daughters." I nod in understanding before getting on the back of the bike. I slowly put my arms around his waist, sensing my hesitance he looks over his shoulder, "Don't worry darlin' I don't bite. Besides, your daddy would kill me!" he passes me the helmet and we drive towards mine. "Thanks for the ride Daryl!" I hop off and head towards the door before stopping and passing Daryl a piece of paper, "listen, here's my number, if you need anything let me know, I owe you." He nods his head slightly before driving off into the night. "Bethany Greene get inside this instant!" I look back and see my mum out of bed for once. "I just got a distressed call from Jimmy! The poor boy said you broke up with him! How could you? You know how much we like him!" I sigh before walking passed her, into the house.
-1 week later-"Morning daddy!" I hug him as I enter the clinic. "Working early huh?" he puts his glasses down before speaking "sure am, just finished some surgery on a poor old cat, sadly he didn't make it, passed during me stitching him up." I pout and turn to help dad with the paperwork but am startled when my phone rings. "Unknown number…hmm, hello?" I hear a gruff voice on the other end of the line "Beth?" I pause realising who it is…"Daryl? What's wrong?"
