Prologue
"Chief… Chief, Wake up…." A familiar voice rang in the Master Chief's ears.
"Cortana?" He mumbled unknowingly, as he had been "asleep" for some time. A sigh of relief greeted his voice.
"So, you're finally back with me. Chief, there's something I need to show you. I hacked into the ship's remaining components and found a front-mounted camera, and I can see that we're not floating through space anymore, at least. But I don't know where we are, and it's been a little too quiet for comfort." Cortana continued to tell him about all that had happened while he was unconscious. He soon recognized that he was in the half destroyed ship Forward unto Dawn.
"Chief, you may not realize it, but you've been out for over 2 years."
