AN: Just something to kick start my creativity again now that midterms are over.

Anko shifted and growled slightly as yet another root found a way to dig into her back. She knew they were supposed to pack light for this mission, but if she had known that this was going to be such a problem she would have brought her bedroll along anyway. Protocol be damned!
She 'harrumphed' and shifted onto her side, glaring at her peacefully sleeping mission partner. Anko could swear Tsume was trying to irritate her even in her sleep. It was infuriating to her, the way the other woman was cuddled up to Kuromaru like that. Maybe if she had a giant furry companion Anko would be able to sleep too. Tsunade could have at least sent her out with Hana, that girl always had a pup to spare for situations like this.
"Hmm," she murmured as she eyed the sleeping duo.
'Just because she doesn't have a full dog to spare doesn't mean we can't share the one she does have,' Anko thought, looking over Kuromaru's expansive and unoccupied back.
Anko shifted up onto her knees and quietly shuffled over towards what she now viewed as the key to a good nights sleep. When she got there she carefully settled herself down and rested her head and shoulders on the soft, furry back.
Kuromaru swiveled his head around to look at her as soon as she made contact and Anko got the distinct impression that, if he had eyebrows, he would be raising one in question at her.
"Ground was hard," she offered by way of explanation and settled in.
Kuromaru snorted at her.
"You had best not drool on my fur woman," he replied, and turned his head back around to once more rest it on his paws; muttering something that sounded suspiciously like 'jealous harpy' as he did so.
Anko, for her part, was satisfied now that she could finally rest. And tomorrow her and Tsume could going tearing into the camp of missing nin like the explosive force she was sure Tsunade was expecting when she paired Konoha's two brashest kunoichi together. But for now she was content to let her eyes drift closed, as Kuromaru's deep breathing lulled her to sleep.
