He watched as she applied the lipstick to each one of her perfectly-formed lips. Applying the shade slowly and carefully, finally pressing her lips together and blowing a kiss at the mirror in her hand. He was mesmerized by Juliet, but more specifically by her lips. He wanted them pressed against his, he wanted to nip at her bottom lip and then soothe it. He wanted her kissing him back and leaving a trail of kisses on his body that were a deep shade of…
"Cranberry," Shawn blurted out. Jules turned and gave him a little grin before blotting her lips carefully with a tissue.
"It's a little darker than my usual shade, but I've got a press conference in an hour about the Safe Kids program," she said. She was smartly dressed in a black suit that accentuated her femininity without being overly revealing. She had fixed her hair in a French twist, and her make-up was flawless.
Not that any part of her was anything less than flawless in Shawn's book.
"You look stunning, Jules. Very Professional. You could probably take over for Chief Vick if she has to leave for official business. Or, you know, to have another kid, or something," Shawn finished lamely and gave her a lop-sided smile. "You'll knock the media off their celebrity chasing feet."
Juliet smiled and turned to pick up her badge from off her desk. When she went to pin it on, Shawn took the opportunity to get a little closer.
"Let me," he said and took the badge from her. He carefully pinned it to her jacket, taking a bit more time than necessary to make sure it was straight. He took careful note of her wide eyes and quickened breath, but rather than make her panicky before her press conference, he opted to lighten the mood.
"Now, don't let Lassie hog the spotlight, you know what an attention hound he can be," he finished with a wink. She looked down a bit, a blush staining her cheeks and a small smile on her lips, letting him know she got the joke.
"Thanks Shawn," Juliet said and leaned in to give him a quick kiss on the cheek before walking off. And standing right there in the Santa Barbara Police Department, watching Juliet O'Hara walk away, he decided that cranberry was his new favorite color.
