A/N: Just a short RoyEd oneshot. Not my usual style, so I'm interested as to what you think.
"You shouldn't be so impulsive, Ed!" Roy concludes, staring gravely down at the younger alchemist. "You need to learn at least a little self-control." His voice is entirely serious, but there is a familiar glint in his dark eyes, and the usual cocky smirk on his face.
"WHO'RE YOU CALLING SO SMALL--"
Ed's outburst was cut off mid-sentence, and he glared at the other man as he spoke. "Seriously, Edward. You need to grow up. You can't keep causing damage like this; someone might get really hurt this time."
"It wasn't my--" Ed stops shorthis mind reeling. "Whatever. I don't have to justify myself to you, Bastard." He manages to spit out, before turning on his heel and stomping out the door.
"…Edward!"
That night, Ed was curled up on the couch, reading, when Roy entered the apartment they shared. He threw his jacket across a table before heading to their room to change. When he reemerged, dressed in considerably more comfortable clothes, he plopped down on the couch next to the teen, and attempted to put his arm around the boy's waist. Without looking up, Ed scooted himself as far away from Roy as he could, and continued reading.
"What the hell are you doing?" Roy snarled, his temper frayed by far too much paperwork and Riza Hawkeye.
Ed closed his book slowly, marking his place with one finger. He looked up at Roy, expression bland. "You shouldn't be so impulsive, Roy" he quotes, struggling to stay serious, and losing. A smirk to rival Mustang's best is plastered on his face by the time he finishes speaking.
Roy glares at him contemptuously for a moment. He's still angry about that? Finally, he growls at Ed, and grab's the boy's shirt, pulling him into a bruising kiss.
Ed pushes him away. "Nuh-uh. You need to learn to have some self control." He extracts himself from the sofa, and goes to sit alone in a chair. Maybe Roy would learn his lesson this time; that he couldn't just say things like that and get away with them, at least not without some retribution.
It was a long, lonely night for Roy Mustang.
