It was so dark I couldn't see anything in front of me. I could hear the leaves crushing beneath my feet and the branches whip at my face even though I effortlessly had my hands held up in defense. I'm sure my palms are cut and bloody at this point but that was the least of my worries. That worry was at the bottom of my list. Or should I consider it at the top? Maybe I should wipe my palms clean incase it's only making matters worse for me. No. It won't even make a difference. The blood will still be there.
I wasn't sure how fast I was running because I had been running for only god knows how long. I felt like I was slowing down though. I had to try to move faster. I didn't know where she was.
She could be running along side me and I wouldn't know it. She could be easily taking her time at my heels with a dangerous grin spread across her unique features. I gasped for air in long strides as best as I could to help regulate my breathing. The freezing air was stinging my lungs, making it hard. My eyes were tearing from the pain and the fear I felt.
You should've just stayed in the house.
My mind was boggled, I couldn't think straight. Do I turn left, right? Do I keep going straight or dare turn around and try to make out her amused expression? I nearly burst into a bawl. Does thinking that mean I'm considering giving up?
No. You can't.
I quickly wiped my nearly frost bitten cheeks and made a slight left, pushing myself away from a tree that came up in front of me. I must have run straight into a thorn bush because my legs began to ache in pain and were tangled, millions of sharp edges pinching at my legs and pulling at my pants. It was pulling me back down. I couldn't move, I was on the ground. I didn't even have the energy to make an effort to save myself. If it was even possible.
