I first had this idea a while ago, but nothing came of it. The basic story is that years after the epilogue of Mockingjay, a girl wonders what is outside of Panem, and decides to ask for permission to take a team to travel across the ocean. Gale's here, as well as Finnick's son (he's a main character) and Katniss makes some appearances too, as well as many of the cast of the original series.
I do not own The Hunger Games series in any way.
Chapter 1
The clock on the wall went tick, tick, tick. The steady rhythm drove me crazy, and my leg started twitching. I sat there, seemingly for hours, until the door opened and the fat, balding mayor entered.
"The board is ready for you now."
I nodded, and made my way over to the door. Following him through the twisting halls, I marveled at how he knew his way around. Everything was the same uniform shade of gray, no art, windows or anything, the beige doors set the same distance apart from one another. I couldn't help it, I began to count my steps between each door. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven. At least it was better than worrying myself about the upcoming meeting.
Suddenly, the mayor stopped, and I almost ran into his heels. Giving me a dirty look, he opened the beige door and announced to the room,
"Here she is."
My knees knocked together as I saw the rows of eyes staring at me from the long, rectangular table. "Go on."
I balked, and the man gave me push, almost toppling me over as I stumbled into the room.
"Thank you Dennis, you may leave." said the person on my left, a thin man in his early fifties, maybe? His blue eyes looked at me sharply.
"So, what do you want?"
"I-I'm Filia-"
"Yes, we know who you are, but why are you here?"
I was lost for words. It had taken me an enormous amount of willpower to simply make it here. I'd had to jump on a train illegally, sleep on the streets in the city, all to make it to New Panem, a city that terrified me, to talk here. And now I didn't know what to say.
"If you don't have anything worth saying, then we'll just have to leave, I'm afraid. We have a lot of business to take care of, and we can't afford to waste it on dumbstruck children. What a pity, and I thought you had some determination, seeing how far you traveled to get here, alone.
And with that, the tall, thin man and the others began to pack up, closing their briefcases. I just stood there, unable to believe that my idea was falling to pieces before I started.
"Wait!
All eyes turned to look at me. I gulped nervously, and smoothed down my pant leg.
"Here's why I'm here. I want to see what's beyond Panem."
That's the first chapter, I hope you like it! Reviews would be AWESOME, and so would constructive criticism.
