Familiar Enemies

Prologue

Fully Loaded '99

He had lost.

Not just lost, but lost big.

He had taken a gamble with his career and it backfired. Now not only was the Undertaker the World Wrestling Federation Champion again, but Stone Cold Steve Austin could never again compete for that title.

Thanks to Jeff Jarrett.

After X-Pac did a spinning heel kick number on the Deadman (Austin didn't know why X-Pac decided to help him. The little guy was probably still pissed off at being chokeslammed earlier in the night), Austin was poised to ram one of the video cameras into 'Taker's head. He never got the chance. While the ref was with 'Taker, Jarrett, who was obviously still upset over getting a stunner earlier, silently entered the ring and slammed one of his infamous guitars over Austin's head, knocking him unconscious and reopening the wound that Undertaker had repeatedly inflicted in the weeks, days, and hours prior to Fully Loaded. Earl Hebner had seen the blood on Austin's face and not Jarrett, signaled for the match to end and effectively ended Austin's WWF career, as he knew it.

An hour after the PPV ended he was in his lockerroom, still thinking about the way his championship reign and any future aspirations ended.

Vince McMahon had finally won.

But Stone Cold was determined not to let Vince get the last laugh in humiliating him.

Steve had said in interviews that if you weren't in the WWF to become the champion, then you shouldn't be here. Well, Austin couldn't be the Champion anymore so he wouldn't be in the company either.

So Stone Cold Steve Austin packed up his stuff and left a World Wrestling Federation Arena for what he thought would be the last time in his career.

*sniff* Good - bye Steve.

More soon.
