Rain poured from the dark sky, falling in an unending descent. Cold and drenched, a shadowy figure silently made his way down an empty street. A chilly gust of wind blew against him, but the lonely figure continued unaffected. He didn't know where he was going and he didn't care. There had been something plaguing him ever since that fateful day… and he knew he couldn't continue hiding… it was time to confront this…

The sky was turning darker as the last few streaks of the sun's light disappeared behind the horizon. Nightfall came and with it a dark blue that veiled the skies, adorned with threads of twinkling stars. As the luminous moon rose, a lone silhouette could be seen standing on the sandy shores, facing the falling waves of the sea. Raising her head, she welcomed the spray of cool salt water and gentle wind that caressed her face. Hugging herself, she looked up into the night sky as if waiting for something … or someone.

The rain had ceased awhile ago and the hovering dark clouds parted to reveal the soft soothing glow of the moon. Hanging in the solitude of the vast clear night, it faintly shone on a still form. Briefly, the figure looked up from where he stood. A pair of startling blue eyes shone through the shadows that concealed the young man. From his hidden post, he continued his silent watch of a lighted window. Quietly returning to the shadows, he disappeared.

My light in the dark…

A teddy bear laid in the center of a soft bed, cushioned by plush pillows. The stuffed bear sat in its comfortable spot while staring ahead with lifeless black eyes. Its furry coat was worn and frazzled from constant hugging and handling. Carefully, the object of much affection was lifted from where it rested and nestled into the arms of a young woman. Sighing, she thoughtfully placed a finger on the bear's button nose. A gentle smile touched her lips.

You gave me strength, faith, … and love.

A golden hair angel sat smiling at a ragged teddy bear. The image caused something to stir within his heart. An unknown need consumed him and he felt himself stepping out of the dark corner and into the light … into the warmth and kindness only she could fill him with.

I've never felt such emotions… never needed to… until I found you.
***
His familiar presence washed over her senses long before he had even stepped out of the shadows. Now, she was afraid that if she turned to face him she would wake up to find it only to be a dream… A hand came to rest on her shoulder and she turned in surprise. Looking up, she found herself staring into deep Prussian eyes that radiated with an emotion she had only dared hoped for.

Feels like a timeless dream… can this be real…

Looking down into her eyes, he finally understood what had been missing in his life, what he had been searching for… love.

I now know why I always felt so lost… because you weren't by my side.
***
Tentatively, she lifted a hand to caress his cheek, as if to make certain he was real. Recognizing the truth, a brilliant smile lit up her lovely face and a single tear fell from her moist eyelashes. Gently wiping away the tear, he leaned down toward her and their lips softly touched in a sweet kiss. It was a promise, and the start of something wonderful.
