A New Beginning

John Constantine looked out on to the city as Angela walked back into the hospital, which by the way, was absolutely trashed from sending Mammon back to hell where he belonged. After Chas died he summoned an angel for a little help, unfortunately getting Gabriel who made the worst mistake of her "life". After unsuccessfully trying to release Mammon unto the human world she was stripped of her wings and was made a mortal.
Angela's sister, Isabelle, was now in heaven due to a deal with Lucifer, the devil. His sacrifice allowed him access to heaven, backfiring on Lucifer's plans. Determined to get john into hell, he took the cancer and tar out of john's lungs. Not many people got third chances so he wasn't going to blow this one. John wouldn't be smoking any more. So instead he pulled out a piece of gum to chew on and stared at the city that didn't know how close it had come to hell on earth.
John didn't know what he was going to do now. He had thought he was going to die. He was right though, but he was back now. Maybe he would just go back to doing exorcisms until humanity needed him again. That's how these things went. John looked back at the city one last time then headed inside. John decided he would let the employees do the cleaning this time, so he left a note:
Sorry about the mess. Good luck.
He stuck the note on the reception desk for some poor secretary to find. Without Chas, he would have to drive himself this time. John got to the bowling ally and climbed the stairs to his apartment. John opened his door and set the holy shotgun on the table, something he wouldn't do any other night. He took off his shoes and fell asleep before he hit the bed.
