A/n: Hello, this is my first Pirates story and I grow excited each chapter I write. However, this chapter is going to be quite short but the rest of them should be around three thousand words. I will try and keep them lengthy, but it may not always be possible. I adore Norrington, and this will be my first story featuring him in it, hopefully there will be a sequel once this one is finished because I have so much in story for this couple.
The screams of pain echoed onto the deck as James paced back and forth, the sound of his wife's screams petrified him. He knew that birthing a child was not the easiest feat in the world, he had heard many women died while birthing the son so many of the men wished for. However birthing a child on a ship could be even more dangerous, he silently prayed for a safe and healthy delivery for them both. He didn't know what he would do if he lost the woman who had put his head back on his shoulders, and mended his heart with nearly invisible stitches.
The scars left by Elizabeth were no more than a vague memory, Abigail was everything he could ask for in a woman. Her beauty far surpassed anything he'd ever seen before. Her blunt honesty was more what had drew him to her when they first met, and everything since then about her only continued to further intrigue him. James heard the screaming stop, and he looked at the door only to hear the wails of an infant.
The men on deck cheered at the sound of the babies cries, James walked into the room. His wife with her hair matted to her face with sweat, she head a small bundle in her arms. "Love?" he said as he looked at her, and a smile graced her face when she saw him. Exhaustion masked her face as he approached her.
"Meet your daughter, James." she told him quietly as she pushed back the blanket from the infants face.
"Lilith Quincy Norrington," Abigail spoke quietly, "She was quite stubborn."
"Just like her mother," he prodded playfully, and she sent him a smile.
"Just like her father," she spoke to him with the same playful gaze. He pressed his lips against hers as the midwife changed her sheets and began to move around the room cleaning everything up as she was paid to do.
"I love you," she whispered to James as he sat on the bed next to her.
"and I you, my love." he spoke affectionately kissing her lips again.
