POWER RANGERS INFINITY WAR

CHAPTER 1

Manhattan, NY 2017

Doctor Tommy Oliver, mild-mannered science teacher at Reefside High School in California, was on vacation in New York City for a few weeks. He had decided to use some of his paid vacation time. As of right now, he was visiting a man named Doctor Stephen Strange, one of the best neuro-surgeons in New York, and also known as the Sorceror Supreme. Tommy was inside the Sanctum Sanctorium where Strange lived. Doctor Strange was wearing civilian clothes and walking down the steps of the mansion with his partner Wong and Tommy.

"Seriously?" Strange said to Wong as they proceeded down the staircase. "You don't have any money?"

"Attachment to the material is detachmant from the spiritual." Wong said mystically.

"I'll tell that to the guys at the deli," said Strange wryly which received a chuckle from Tommy. "Maybe they'll make you a metaphysical ham on rye." Wong stopped and said he thought he had two-hundred. "Dollars?" asked Strange hopefully.

"Rupees." Wong said and added when Tommy gave him a puzzled look, "That equeals to a buck and a half." Tommy sighed and asked what the wizard wanted to eat. "I wouldn't say no to a tuna melt." Before Tommy could answer the man, there was an almighty crash as a man crashed through the stairs. Doctor Strange's Cloak of Levitation swirled around the sorcerer's body instantly.

"Thanos is coming..." said the man sitting up. "He's coming..."

"Who are you?" Tommy asked. "And who's 'Thanos'?"

"Thanos is a powerful alien," said the man in the stairs as he stood up finally. "I have to get to Tony now!"

"Well," said Tommy, "whoever this 'Thanos' guy is, I'm sure I can help." He showed the trio his Master Morpher which gave him the ability to morph into his past Power Ranger forms. "I'm a Power Ranger."

Doctor Strange nodded. "Good. We cna definitely use your help if something big happens." A golden circle appeared as he traced it into midair opening a portal to a park. "Come with me." He, Tommy, the man named Bruce Banner and Wong stepped through the portal. When they reached their destination, they weren't too far away from a man and woman talking. Tommy could hear the conversation perfectly. It seemed they were talking about pregnancy.

"If you wanted to have a kid, you wouldn't have done that," said the woman pointing to what Tommy recognized as the Arc reactor on the man's chest. This had to be Tony Start, otherwise known as Iron Man.

"I'm glad you brought that up. That's nothing. It's just a housing unit for nano particles." the man named Tony explained.

"This isn't helping your case, OK?" said the woman. Tony tried to insist that it was only an attachment, but the woman cut him off. "You don't need that."

"I know," said Tony. "I've had the surgery. I'm just trying to protect us. The future usses. Just in case there's a monster in the closet."

Tommy took this moment to speak. "I've dealt with a number of monsters over the years and none of them ever came out of a closet." Tony and the woman turned to look at him. "Hi. I'm Tommy Oliver."

The woman's eyes widened. "Tommy Oliver? As in the longest-running Power Ranger up to date?" He nodded. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Pepper Potts, Tony's personal assistant and fiance."

"Pleasure to meet you, too, Pepper." Tommy said. "Congratulations on your wedding, by the way." Pepper thanked him and Tony got defensive.

"Are you selling tickets?" he demanded.

"No," said Tommy, "but we do have a problem. We need your help. Look, it's not overselling to say that the universe is at stake."

Tony stared at the newcomer for a moment before saying slowly, "Who's 'we'?" Bruce stepped forward with a greeting. Tony was surprised. "Bruce. You okay?" Tommy led them through the portal to the Sanctum Sanctorium where they could talk about what was going to happen. Tommy watched as Doctor Strange used his magic to illustrate what they were up against.

"From the dawn of the universe, there was nothing. Then, boom! The Big Bang sent six elemental crystals hurtling across the virgin universe. These Infinity Stones control an essential aspect of existence." Each of the stones lit up as he named them. "Space. Reality. Power. Soul. Mind, and Time." Doctor Strange used his magic to open the Eye of Agamotto that held the emerald green Time Stone.

"Tell me his name again." Tony said. He was attentive during the whole speech about the Infinity Stones.

"Thanos." Bruce said. "He's a plague, Tony. He invades planets. He takes what he wants and wipes out half the population of each planet he invades. He sent Loki. The attack on New York...that was him!"

Tommy was deep in thought remembering all of the times he fought against the most powerful villains the universe had ever seen. "I've been through a lot of alien invasions, but nothing like this."

"This is it..." said Tony to himself. He looked at Bruce. "What's our timeline?"

"No telling." Bruce explained. "He has the Power and Space Stones, that makes him the strongest creature in the universe, Tony. If he gets all of the Infinity Stones..." he trailed off.

"He can destroy life on a scale hitherto undreamt of." Doctor Strange finished.

Tony leaned against a cauldron looking like he was stretching before a marathon. "Did you seriously just say 'hitherto undreamt of'?"

"Are you seriously leaning against the Cauldron of the Cosmos?" Strange said mockingly. Tommy had enough of the bickering.

"Okay, you two, that's enough. If this Thanos guy needs all six Stones, why don't we get rid of the one you have, Doctor Strange?" he said.

"No can do. We swore an oath to protect the Time Stone with our lives." Wong explained.

"And I swore off dairy." Tony said, "but then Ben & Jerry's named an ice cream flavor after me."

Doctor Strange sighed. "Stark Raving Hazelnuts." Tommy and Tony both expressed their like for that new flavor, but Strange disagreed. "It's too chalky."

"'A Hunka-Hulka Burning Fudge' is our favorite." Wong said with a small grin." Bruce was incredulous when he asked if that new flavor was actually a thing.

"Whatever." Tony said waving off the conversation. "The point is things change."

"Our oath to protect the Time Stone cannot change." Doctor Strange said bitterly. "This Stone may be the best chance we have against Thanos."

Tommy caught on to what they were saying and disagreed completely. "And it may be his best chance against us." Doctor Strange, Tony and Bruce stared at him. "Past experience. Years ago my team and I were fighting a monster named Mesogog. He wanted our power sources called Dino Gems so he could create a new world run by dinosaurs. The Dino Gems proved to be our chance to fight him, but they were also his chance at defeating us."

"That is," said Doctor Strange, "if we don't do our jobs."

"What is your job, exactly? Besides making balloon animals?" Tony deadpanned.

"Protecting your reality, douchebag." Strange retorted.

Tommy was getting tired of this conversation really quickly. They were acting like a couple of five-year-olds fighting over a toy. "Can we table this discussion right now?"

"Yeah!" Bruce agreed. "The fact is we have this Stone and we know where it is. Vision is somewhere out there with the Mind Stone and we have to find him now!"

Tony said awkwardly, "Yeah...that's the thing. Vision turned of his transponder two weeks ago. He's offline."

"What?" Bruce said. "You lost another superbot?"

"I didn't lose him. He's more than that. He's evolving." Tony explained. Bruce then asked who could contact their friend and Tony wasn't happy to give the answer. "Shit. Probably Steve Rogers."

That name rang a bell for Tommy. He had heard that name somewhere before. "You mean Captain America?" Tony nodded. "Why don't you call him, then, if he's the only one who can call your other guy?"

"Because," said Tony, "the Avengers broke up. Cap and I fell out hard. We're not on speaking terms."

Tommy sighed and then had an idea. "Guys, I think I might be able to get some of the past Power Rangers to join us. I know most of the teams...having worked with more than half of them before...so maybe they'll help."

"That could work," said Bruce. "We need all the help we can get. When you get a chance to call them, do it." Tommy nodded. "Tony, listen to me. Thor's gone. Thanos is coming. It doesn't matter who you're talking to or not."

Tony sighed pulling out the cell phone Steve Rogers once mailed him in case of emergency. "Flip phone..." he muttered and paused as he was about to hit the 'call' button. There was a low rumbling which made him hesitate. "Doc, you wouldn't happen to be moving your hair, would you?" Doctor Strange shook his head no. "That's what I thought. Let's check this out." The five heroes ran out the front door of the Sanctum Sanctorium and around the corner. Tommy gasped and his jaw dropped at the sight. Tony put on his sunglasses and said, "F.R.I.D.A.Y., what are we looking at?"

"Not sure. I'm working on it." said a female voice from the sunglasses. Tommy wasn't sure what to think of that, but left it alone anyway.

"You might want to put that Time Stone in your pocket, Doc!" Tony called over to Doctor Strange.

Bands of spells appeared around the magician's arms. "Might wanna use it." He said. Tommy pulled out his Master Morpher that he built. It allowed him to access the powers of the Green Ranger, both White Ranger powers, Red Zeo powers and his Dino Thunder powers. "What do you have there, Doctor Oliver?"

"Something that might help," said Tommy as he stood next to Tony. He watched as two aliens appeared in a beam of light from the donut-shaped ship in the sky. "This can't be good."

"Here me and rejoice, for you are about to die at the hands of the Children of Thanos." Ebony Maw, one of the Children of Thanos said in a British accent. "Be thankful that your meaningless lives are contributing to..."

"Sorry," said Tony. "Earth is closed today. Better pack it up and get outta here." Tommy nodded his agreement and shifted to a defensive stance.

Maw looked at Doctor Strange and said, "Stonekeeper, does this chattering animal speak for you?"

"Certainly not." Strange replied as he conjured magical shields. "I speak for myself. But you're trespassing in this city and this planet."

"That's right!" Tommy yelled at Maw who now looked at him. "You better pack your bags because we're about to send you back to where you came from."

Maw sighed and looked to his brethren. "They exhaust me." Cull Obsidian grunted. "Get the Stone." Obsidian grunted again, dropped his hammer to the ground and dragged it as it walked forward.

"Banner, you want a piece?' Tony asked Bruce.

"No, not really, but since when do I get what I want?" said Bruce. Tony nodded. Bruce braced himself for the Hulk to come out but was a little surprised to find that it didn't work. The most of him that turned green was his neck.

"Been a while," said Tony conversationally. "Good to have you, buddy." Tommy watched as Bruce tried again to no avail. "Where's your guy?"

"I don't know. We've sort of been havin' a thing." Bruce explained.

"There's no time for a thing." Tony reminded his friend. Bruce said he knew and gave a loud grunt but nothing happened. "Dude, you're embarrassing me in front of wizards."

"If he can't do it, then he can't do it." Tommy told Tony sternly. Tony sighed and told Bruce it was okay and then asked Wong to look after him. Wong nodded and Tony tapped the piece on his chest which caused his new armor to materialize on his body. Bruce then asked what it was that made his suit. "Nano-tech. You like it? A little somet-" Tommy leapt out of the way as a spike of earth struck Tony causing him to launch into the air leaving Obsidian to attack the others.

Tommy took his chance. He clicked his Master Morpher and said, "It's Morphin time! Tigerzord power!" His body glowed white for a moment and, when the light faded, he was dressed in his White Ranger costume. He unsheathed the enchanted sword called Saba and looked at the tiger's head on the handle. "Good to see you, old friend."

"Likewise," said Saba. "What are we up against, Tommy?"

"Looks like a couple aliens bent on conquering Earth again," said the White Ranger. "Makes me wish we had the Tigerzord right about now, but I guess we'll just have to do things the old fashioned way." Tommy launched himself into the air landing on a rooftop nearby. "Hey, ugly!" Maw looked up at him. "It's time for you to meet Saba!" Saba flew around Maw and then shot him with two laser beams from its eyes.

"What was that supposed to do, you pathetic Earthling?" Maw growled. "I will make you feel more pain than you ever felt in your life."

"I highly doubt that." Tommy snarled and clicked his Morpher once more. "Dino Thunder, power up!" His body glowed in black light and he was morphed in his Dino Thunder costume. "Brachio Staff, Energy Orb!" A strong sphere of energy encased itself around Maw and exploded throwing the alien a few feet backward. "Had enough?"

"Not nearly!" Maw yelled and threw large boulders at him. Tommy dodged each boulder but was unable to get away from the last one. "Now, you shall die!" Obsidian grabbed Tommy by the throat and tossed him through the air. The Black Ranger landed near Bruce who was covered in branches.

"Hey, Tommy," said Bruce. Tommy nodded at him and moved quickly as Iron Man slammed into the spot where Tommy was a few seconds ago. "Tony! Are you okay? How we doing? Good? Bad?"

"We're doing good." Tony said sarcastically. "Really, really good. Do you plan on helping out?"

"I'm trying, Tony," said Bruce, "but the Hulk just won't come out." He slapped his face a few times while saying, "Come on, Hulk, what are you doing to me? Come out! Come out! Come out!" To Tommy's surprise, half of Bruce's face turned into the Hulk and yelled "NOOO!" Bruce fell back on the branches of the tree that fell and said, "What do you mean 'no'?"

Suddenly, Tommy and Tony were knocked down again thanks to Cull Obsidian's hammer. Obsidian was about to deliver the final blow when the hammer was caught by a figure swinging by in a red and blue costume. "Spider-Man?" Tommy gasped. "Thank God you're here!"

"You're welcome!" Spider-Man said as he landed nearby and said to Tony, "What's up, Mr. Stark?"

"Kid, where'd you come from?" Iron Man asked.

"Field trip to MoMA." Spider-Man said nonchalantly. He yelped as Cull Obsidian grabbed him and threw him away. Surprisingly, Tommy was able to patch into Tony's communications link to Spider-Man. "What's this guy's problem?"

"He's from space and came to take a necklace from a wizard." Tommy explained. He watched as Wong and Strange fought against Maw, who was winning. "I'll help Doctor Strange and his partner. You guys take Big-Boy down." Spider-Man and Iron Man nodded once and began their battle while Tommy rushed toward the fight between Strange and Maw. The White Ranger watched as Strange conjured a magical whip that bound Maw's hands and pulled the alien toward him, but Maw was much stronger. He flew forward with the pull and pinned Strange upside down against a wall using bricks to trap the Sorcerer Supreme.

"Your powers are quaint. You must be popular with the children." Maw commented and tried to snatch the necklace off of Strange only to find that it burned his hand.

"It's a simple spell," said Strange, "but quite unbreakable."

"Then I'll take it off your corpse." Maw said pulling Strange away from the wall and throwing him to the ground. Strange attempted to open the amulet on his chest but Maw used utility cables to encase him. They wrapped around his arms and then his throat, tightening instantly.

"You'll find...removing...a dead man's spell...troublesome." Strange gasped. Tommy watched as Maw told the Sorcerer that he'd only wish he was dead and then raised up a sheet of street pavement when the Sorcerer fell unconscious. Fortunately, the Cloak of Levitation loosened Strange from the pavement and flew him away.

"Kid, that's the wizard!" Tony said over the comm. "Get on it! You, too, Oliver!"

"We're on it, Stark." Tommy said and grabbed Spider-Man's leg as he swung by. "Mind if I catch a ride?" Spider-Man nodded and Tommy climbed upon the hero's back so he could see better. "Man, that's not good." Maw was bending the utility poles in order to snag the red cloak. Maw was finally able to do it. "Spidey, catch the wizard!"

"Got 'im!" Spider-Man said grabbing hold of Strange. "Oh, boy...um, Mr. Stark, I think we're being beamed up!"

Tommy heard a commotion over the communicator and winced as he heard the sickening sound of a limb being chopped off. "Uh, Tony...what happened?"

"Oh, Big Boy decided to try and attack me and jumped through a portal that Wong made. Big Dummy turned back to come my way but Wong closed the portal leaving nothing but a severed hand." Tommy then heard: "Wong, you're invited to my wedding. F.R.I.D.A.Y., give me some juice." A few moments later, Tommy and Spider-Man were joined by Iron Man. "Unlock 17-A. Pete, you gotta let go."

"But you said save the wizard!" Spider-Man yelled gasping for breath. "I can't breathe!" When Tommy told him that he was too high up and running out of air, the webbed hero said, "Yeah, that makes sense." He spoke into his communicator again. "Mr. Stark, it smells like new car in here."

"Happy trails, kid." Tony said. "F.R.I.D.A.Y., send him home."

"Yup," said the female voice Tommy heard that belonged to Stark's AI.

Tommy jumped off of Spider-Man just as a large parachute extended from his costume and he spiralled back to Earth. "OH, COME ON!" Spidey yelled and Tommy chuckled. He and Iron Man climbed onto the hull of the large donut-shaped ship and the latter cut a hole into the hull via a laser. Tony started talking to someone that spoke into his helmet just as Tommy's communicator went off. "This is Tommy, go ahead."

"Tommy?" said a familiar voice. "Where are you? I saw on the news that a space ship is hovering in the sky and then I saw you fighting some aliens with Iron Man and a couple of others...Tommy, please tell me you're not on that ship."

"Kim, I'm sorry." Tommy said with a sigh. "I don't know if I'll make it back. I just want you to know that I love you." He heard her start to cry. "Kim, don't cry. Come on, you're stronger than this."

"Tommy, I'm coming up there to get you." Kim said firmly. "I have your coordinates, so I'm gonna morph and then I'm taking the Crane Zord and coming to you. We're in this together."

"Kim, are you out of your mind?" There was no answer. "Kim? KIMBERLY!" Tommy kicked the wall of the ship. "Dammit! Why does she have to be so hard-headed?"

"I take it the person you just spoke to is someone that cares about you?" Tony asked.

"You could say that," said Tommy with a sad sigh. "We used to date in high school and then Kim moved to Florida to train for gymnastics. After receiving new Ranger powers and a new member of the team, Kimberly sent me a 'Dear John' letter. At first, I was happy to read what she had to say until it got to the part where she broke up with me." Tony was quiet. "A year later, she and the former leader of the first Power Ranger team were kidnapped by a space pirate named Divatox and taken to an island called Muranthias. My team and I went there to rescue them only to watch them turn evil for a bit. Fortunately, the alien wizard called Lerigot managed to turn her back to normal. I haven't seen her since then."

"She seems to be a keeper." Tony said with a grin. He felt a tap on his shoulder and raised a hand to fire a repulsor blast but saw that it was Doctor Strange's cloak. "Wow. You're a seriously loyal piece of outerwear, aren't you?"

"Speaking of loyalty..." said a voice from above. Tommy looked up to see Spider-Man without his mask on the ceiling. He jumped down. "I know what you're going to say."

"You shouldn't be here." Tony said and Peter Parker launched into an explanation. "I don't want to hear it."

Peter didn't listen to him. "It was such a long way down and I just thought about you guys on the way and..." Tony sighed and muttered that he was gonna hear it anyway. "...And I kinda stuck to the side of the ship and this suit is ridiculously intuitive, you know, so it's kinda your fault I'm here."

Tony tensed up and turned serious. "What did you just say?"

Peter looked scared now. "I take that back. And now I'm in space."

Tommy sighed. "You couldn't have possibly thought this through."

Peter shrugged. "It's just - you can't be a friendly-neighborhood Spider-Man without a neighborhood." He waited for Tony's reaction and then added, "Okay, that didn't make any sense, but you know what I'm trying to say."

Tony sighed and said, "Okay. We've got a situation here." He led Peter and Tommy to a view point on what was happening to Doctor Strange below. "See him down there? He's in trouble. What's your plan? Go."

Peter gave it a moment's thought and then responded. "Did you ever see that really old movie, Aliens?" Tommy pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance and then tensed up as he heard a loud screeching noise from outside the ship. "What the hell is that?" Peter said looking out the windows of the ship. In the distance was a pink and white bird-shaped object and it was coming closer.

"That would be Kimberly." Tommy said. He wasn't sure how to feel about his high school sweetheart coming to join the battle, but he knew he couldn't stop her. He saw a pink blur eject from the Crane Zord and enter the ship. The doors behind them slid open and there was Kimberly Hart in her Ranger costume and she wasn't looking very happy. "Oh, crap." Tommy muttered as she walked toward him.
