Author's note: This takes place on the eve of Nancy's 16th birthday. I don't know when she turns 16 in the books...sorry!
Disclaimer: If I owned Swallows and Amazons, there'd be ten more books and much more about Titty!

Nancy Blackett stared out of her bedroom window, searching for the first star.
Star light, star bright,
First star I see tonight,
Wish I may, wish I might,
Have the wish I wish tonight.
I want to turn the clock back.
She sighed despondently. Sweet sixteen was just around the corner for her—tomorrow—and that evening her mother had told her "Sixteen is when you start becoming a lady, Ruth. It's time to put away the tomboy days in lavender for once and for all."
"Don't call me Ruth!" she had snapped, and left the room.
Her thoughts strayed this way and that, like Amazon in a flukey wind. When had it become imperative that she grow up?
I never wanted to grow up. I though I could always stay me, forever.
Nancy Blackett, no longer Terror of the High Seas, broke down and wept as the star she had wished on fell through the heavens in a final blaze of glory.
