Prince of Cats

A/N: Well, this is just to test my skills really. That, and I have a severe case of writers block visa vie Shikha's Story… So, yeah, this was just done cause R+J in English and I felt like some feedback. I'm always doodling poetry, so it'd be nice to get some feedback.

Disclaimer: I do not own Romeo and Juliet. I am not Victorian. (Elizabethan?) I am not that smart or that bored. So don't sue. Thanks.

Prince of Cats? Rat catcher!
Pain. Acceptance!
Bitter laughter!
Eternal Death ever after!
A scratch? 'Tis enough.

My body is broken, lying, 'neath me, twixt air and ground.
The rat catcher too, is heavenward bound.

They say 'hell hath no fury like woman scorned.' 'Tis false,
hell hath no fury like spectre scorned!

For we are silent in our hate,
Revenge can never come too late,
A plague upon these houses of old dignity,
They, and thou, hath made worms meat of me!

You who I called friend, come forth and stint, say I! I am
disinclined to forgive, yet a peace, endless peace, floods
me.

The sun doth shine,
And the trees doth grow,
And I forgive them,
Tybalt and good Romeo.

All is changed, I am numb.

Yet … feelings flood me: emotions as wild, as fierce, as
angry as the sea. A sea of blood!

Oh, Romeo, Romeo?
Art thou charmed?
Thou hast cast off thy valour!
Surrendered thine arms!
And only to seize them, too late!
When all the while,
My soul escapes!
My flight from those cruel and vile.

But alas, poor soul, 'tis too late,
The world: torn asunder by hate.

Hate. I sense it near me. Yet it eludes my grasp. Is this
death? Am I dead? For certain, I feel alive – and better
yet. If this is death, so be it.

I shall not fight this for warned fate,
Of those who die, if it's too late,
Then –

But what is this?
Romeo, why dost thou stay?
Thou art a fool. Away, away!
For if the Prince should find out that,
This Romeo did slay the Prince of Cats,
In his rage at endless strife,
Thy penalty shall be thy life.

So good Romeo, dost thou not fly?
From this place where dead mortals lie?

Fool! A fool thou art and a fool I name thee!

For when all is said and done,
You shall see tomorrows sun,
My life was taken then - not thine!
And retribution shall be mine!
