Mudblood
Mary MacDonald's breathing was harsh and laboured, and her cheeks were wet with tears. Her calves burned as she sprinted down the hallway, desperate to reach the Gryffindor Common Room before they reached her. She skidded around a corner, and let out a cry of frustration as she realised that she still had two more flights of stairs to go up before she reached safety.
"Come out… and we promise we won't hurt you," one of them called out, and that made his friends burst into laughter. They were closer than she had though, and were starting to move quicker.
She ran faster, forcing her legs to speed up. She struggled to inhale as she nearly choked on another sob. She could hear their footsteps, their leers. She felt her throat start to constrict as it became harder and harder for her to regulate her breathing. Her throat felt thick with panic.
"Ah, there's the little mudblood." Mary froze in place, and with shaking hands, she removed her wand from her pocket. It nearly fell from her grip, her fingers were quivering so. The leader's words were followed by more insults from his cronies.
"Stu-stupefy," she stuttered out, but her wand barely lit up. She was too scared to perform the spell correctly.
"Pathetic! Stupid bint can't even cast a spell right," the leader crowed. Mary didn't recognise him, but saw that he was wearing a Slytherin tie. She should have guessed. She was determined not to go down without a fight.
"Petrificus To-totalus!" she cried out, and a feeble jet of light flew from her wand and hit one of the followers in the stomach. The spell was so weak that only his upper half froze in place.
The leader snorted. "Nice try, mudblood," he said, a mean glint in his eyes. "But it's time for you to stop."
Mary brought her hands up to cover her face as he shouted out a curse.
"Crucio!"
And then it all went black.
Another drabble for the Movie Quotes Drabble Challenge by toujours belle with another Pirates of the Caribbean quote, which was 'Come out… and we promise we won't hurt you.' Good news! I didn't go over the word limit this time! Yay!
