"Hey, You!" Fiyero walked towards the green girl reading peacefully in the library, he sat down beside her.

She paid him no mind, save for a heavy sigh, "If you're here to make a cruel joke at my expense then would you at least do it when I can't hear you?" she didn't look up from her book

"What? No, I'm not here to make fun of you…" he held up his hands in surrender

"The why are you, the 'scandalicious' prince, risking your reputation to be seen in the library with the 'artichoke'" she looked at him, annoyed

"Well I thought that since you're my girlfriend's roommate, and friend, that I would try to get to know you" He flashed a winning smile which made her roll her eyes

"Find a friend in someone else, I'm not very pleasant to be around" she returned her gaze to her book

"Please? I'm sure you know me but I don't really know you…" He tried

"If I tell you about myself will you go away?" He nodded his head, "Fine, I am Elphaba Thropp, I am green and I would like to be left alone, happy?"

"C'mon, Elphie"

"Don't call me that, Tiggular" she poked a bony finger into his chest, He grinned "What's got you smiling?"

"You gave me a nickname" he stuck his tongue out at her; she rolled her eyes again

"You're impossible!" she slammed her book shut, "You're so annoying, I think this would be more pleasant if you had just made a crude remark about my skin"

"You see, that's what I don't get about you, Elphaba" She leaned into her hand, not really interested, "You act so tough, like you don't care about what people say about you and then you constantly put yourself down and make a big fuss over other people when they just want to be nice to you. Do you know why you have one friend? It's because you push people away when they are trying to be friendly. Galinda is your only friend because she has the patience for it; Oz knows nobody else at this school does." He turned to walked away; Impulse drove the green girl to stand and place a small hand on his shoulder. He stopped and turned, there was an awkward heat in the air.

"I'll agree to this, but only for Galinda. And only because I've never had friends before" she lowered her eyes, he gently nudged her chin upward, they stared intently into each other's eyes.

"Elphaba I didn't mean what I said…" She ducked away

"Fiyero, don't be sorry, it's all true" she lowered her eyes to her book once again to avoid the awkwardness

"No it's not, Elphie" She glared upon hearing the nickname that was affectionately given by Galinda, "Fae, None of what I said is true, you are one of the kindest girls in Shiz and you are by far the smartest. I'm sorry that people can't see past your skin color but it's not your fault and if it helps at all…" He gazed at her, kindly, almost lovingly, "My favourite color is green" He smiled at her making her look shyly away

"Fiyero, that's one of the nicest things I've ever been told"

"Well, it's true"

"uh….I have Life Science….I should go…" She made to leave but he stopped her

"So do I, let me walk you" but she had already left, "Or not…" he sighed before making his way to class.
