Peter and Neal came strolling down the street towards Peter's car. They had just finished an interview of a suspect in a fraud case, and it had been quite a long day, but Hughes called them a few minutes ago and asked them to head back to the bureau right away, and so the day didn't appear to end just yet.
"Didn't Hughes say why he wanted us back this late?", Neal asked, pouting a bit that his date with Sarah had to be postponed once again. "Nope, but he did sound a bit stressed - it might be new evidence to our case", Peter answered.
They reached the car and got in at the same time as it started to rain. Peter looked out the windshield towards the dark clouds gathering.
"Oh, this weather isn't really much of a spring weather - it feels more like fall!". Neal just looked out the window and mused a bit: "I don't mind... These changes in weather are just fascinating. Every type of weather, might it be rain, snow, thunderstorms or sun, is an inspiration of each own." He directed his focus to the radio and started fiddling with the buttons. "What are you doing? I was listening to the news...", Peter objected and slapped Neal's hand. "Hey!", Neal briefly removed his hand, but reached back to the radio right away. "This weather deserves..." "It deserves to be accompanied by the news", Peter interrupted and pushed away Neal's hand once again. "You keep your focus on the driving, and I'll focus on the radio", Neal said and found another station. "I focus on the driving AND the news", Peter argued, tuning the radio back to the previous station. Neal immediately fiddled with the radio again.
As soon as he switched the channel, Peter switched it right back with a grumpy sound. Neal reached for the radio, but Peter slapped his hand once more - this time a little harder. "Ooouw, stop that!", Neal said and held his hand away from Peter. "Then you stop changing the station!", Peter said with a stern voice.
Neal kept quiet, and Peter focused on the driving again getting ready to change lane for the left turn coming ahead. Right when Peter looked over his shoulder to make sure no cars were coming, Neal reached for the radio, switched the channel and sat back with a smirk on his face.
Peter looked at him, then looked at the radio and back at Neal again. "I told you this weather deserves some nice inspirational music", Neal simply said. Peter turned the car over and hit the brakes. He turned his entire body towards Neal, and with a pointing finger he looked like a father just about to give his kid a lecture of a life time.
"You need... If... when I say...", Peter started. "What DO you say, Peter?", Neal said with a smile. "When I tell you that I listen to the news, I listen to the news, and you for sure keep your hands away from the radio until those news have ended! Understood?"
Neal just looked innocent at Peter, gave him a big smile and said: "The news ended several minutes ago, Peter! At least you did focus on the driving and not the radio, as I told you to..."
