SMILE
The muscles twitch. They tug, they pull… the corners of his mouth slowly turn upward.
She watches, anticipating, her breathing shallow.
Eventually, his lips curl into something resembling a smile. His teeth (rotted) show; but she vividly remembers them white… gleaming.
She recalls his smile from before prison. How easily it would dance onto his lips; laughter would follow. For fourteen years, they've had no reason to smile. Now, however, their Lord is back.
She steps up to her husband. She looks down at his smile.
"I love it when you smile," she whispers. And firmly kisses his smiling lips.
