RED RAIN
One-As if life could get any weirder
It was raining when I woke up, obviously. The forecast was showers for the next three days. Fuck.
I opened my eyes, and stared at the ceiling in my room for a while, contemplating life. I had two free rooms upstairs, and the RENT sign had been up for two months. I was really just about to give up and let Vanessa and Dax use one of them for a game room. It was all I could do for them; I'd given them a pretty rude awakening, telling them they were werewolves.
As if they didn't already have enough problems.
I sat up in bed, and pulled my legs up, resting my chin on my knees. It was still pretty dark in the room, but I guessed it was because of the insane almost-black clouds outside. I listened to the pitter patter of rain on the roof and on my window, before dragging myself out of bed and opening the door. What I loved about this house was that if you started going up to the third floor, there was just a door on the wall. Most people guessed it led to a closet, but it didn't. It led to my room.
I left my room, careful to sit on the floor and lower myself carefully on the lower steps. I'd had more than my share of falling-down-the-stairs incidents already.
''Carmen! You're awake'' Dax jumped on me, pulling me into a scorching hug.
''And still half asleep, maybe you should keep any physical contact until after I've had my coffee. You know what kind demon-y stuff I can do to you'' I growled against his chest.
Dax barked a laugh, and pulled away. ''There's two guys here, they want to know about the rooms'' he told me, scratching his arm.
''What? Really, no, you're lying'' I was instantly happy. ''Oh yes!'' I did a little happy dance. ''Names and ages, Dax'' I reminded him.
''Oh yeah, well, they're our age . . . '' he began.
''Names Dax. Names are important'' I reminded him, crossing my arms over my chest. I'd read his mind if I had to.
Mind reading was another power I'd gained from being turned from mortal to demon, along with telekinesis, super-strength, and super-speed. I searched through his mind, but he was getting pretty good at hiding his thoughts from me. ''Go find out yourself'' he started nudging me down the stairs.
''Can I at least go pee first?'' I yanked myself away from him ''jeesh'' I snapped ''aggressive much?''
Dax rolled his eyes and directed me to the washroom.
''Carmen! Get your ass down here!'' Vanessa yelled as I shut the bathroom, and I heard two deep male chuckles. It was too bad I couldn't read there minds from this distance and find out who they were, and why Vanessa and Dax were keeping this from me. I finished my business and pulled up my shorts, washing my hands quickly before leaving the washroom, almost bumping into Dax. ''Holy crap, what is it with you guys?'' I demanded angrily.
He only smiled and shoved me down the stairs.
''Finally'' Vanessa hissed when I got down the stairs, ''these two men want to talk about the two available rooms?'' she smiled sweetly, focusing on how to say the word Expunge in mandarin, so I wouldn't be able to get into her head.
I brushed my hands on my shorts and closed my eyes, walking towards the two guys blindly.
''Hi I'm Carm-'' I opened my eyes and stopped midsentence, gasping at who I was talking to.
I was talking to Edward Cullen and Jacob Black.
