The universe stretches on endlessly. It never stops. You could travel forever and never hit an end. It's like trying to find the end of a circle: there is none. It goes on forever.
Forever. Is there really a forever? There is eternity, but not forever. Forever is a time. Eternity is just... always. All of time. Nothing lasts forever, which is why is does not exist.
Does that make sense?
Probably not. You are not me. You haven't witnessed what I have, done what I've done. Traveling through space and time, doing what you were born for. Keeping a promise you did not make.
How I envy you.
There are times that I wish I had never sealed Chaos within myself. Never tried to stop it. I knew I couldn't. Even then, I knew it would break me. But, I wanted peace, even for a little while. It couldn't last, I knew that, too. But even just a short period of time when people could sleep peacefully in their beds, not lying awake in fear, that was my dream. That was my drive, my duty. My whole reason for being.
You wouldn't understand. For you, duty is doing the right thing. Keeping yourself and those you love safe. Human instinct says save yourself then others.
For me, it's not so.
Others come first. No matter what the price, I will grant you freedom from the evils around you. This is my promise, my chains.
Nothing lasts forever.
But this sure comes close.
