To Hermione, Valentine's Day was just another day at Hogwarts.

There was no point in her doing anything special since Ron wasn't going to be with her. Instead, she planned to bury her head in her studies with Ginny. The NEWTs weren't for another four months, but Hermione was determined on being ready.

"C'mon, Hermione, lighten up!" said Ginny after their third hour studying.

"Ginny, I plan on getting 'O's on everything this time," Hermione said, running her fingers through her frizzy hair. "I got an Exceeds Expectations' in Defense Against the Dark Arts when I took the OWLs, and I was so close-"

"This is because Ron didn't send you anything, isn't it?" Ginny asked, her eyebrows raised.

"Don't be ridiculous."

"It is, I know it is!"

"Ginny, I'm fine. Just because Harry sent you something doesn't mean that I need my boyfriend to send me things to prove that he loves me."

Ginny clutched the golden snitch necklace around her neck. "Oh, and I don't either," she said testily. "If you don't remember, I didn't hear anything from Harry for months last year."

"I'm sorry-"

"Look, Ron's rubbish with love, you know that."

Hermione opened her mouth to answer but was interrupted by a pecking sound. She turned around and saw Pigwidgeon on the window sill. "Hello, there," she cooed, opening the window to let him in. Hermione untied the scroll from his leg, earning a hoot before he flew to Ginny.

Go to the Astronomy Tower at 11:30. Hope you don't mind breaking rules.

She glanced at the clock and saw that she only had thirty minutes. After a quick goodbye to Ginny, Hermione cast a disillusionment charm and left the common room.

The tower was empty, save for a ghost who was passing through. Hermione looked out at the sky. There were no clouds in sight. The moon and stars cast their light down on the grounds. Whatever Ron was planning, it was a beautiful night for it to happen.

Hermione turned around and stared at the door. She had a few minutes to wait-

BOOM!

Hermione spun around. The sky was now lit pink, the fireworks dancing to the ground. Next were blue wheels, and then sea-green dragons. She gazed at the sky for an hour with a smile on her face. Though she didn't want them to, the fireworks appeared to end, and Hermione made her way down the staircase. "Brilliant, Ron," she said to herself. "Thank you."

"You're welcome."

Hermione stopped walking. "Ron?"

He suddenly appeared beside her. "Invisibility cloak," Ron explained. "Harry let me borrow it, and then I used the Vanishing Cabinets to get here. Couldn't believe they were still here, actually-"

Hermione stopped him with a kiss. "Happy Valentine's Day, Ron."

Ron grinned. "Happy Valentine's Day, Hermione."
