Author's Notes: This is a very short piece from Mei-Lin's perspective. Frankly, I don't believe that the poor girl really deserves all the bashing she seems to get.
The Chase

Alright, I know how it looks to you. I suppose it is hard to come to any other conclusion. I mean, from the time you've known me, it's all I've done. It looks like I'm chasing him all the time, doesn't it? Well, you're right, I am. But it's not what you think! I'm not chasing him for me; I chasing him to her.
Yes her, Sakura, the Cardmistress. A bit of a surprise isn't it? You think I hate her don't you? Perhaps that I'm jealous of her abilities? I'll admit, there is a bit of a family pride that stands between me and her, but truly, I don't hate Sakura. I know that he loves her and if she would open her eyes a bit, she would realize that she loves him. Frankly, I couldn't hate someone that he loves.
Although, Sakura can be a bit dense at times you know? If only she could look past that mask he puts on, she would see the real him. Not Syaoran the Cardcaptor automaton, but the loving, cheerful (yes cheerful!) cousin that I've known all along.
Syaoran really used to be a nice guy before he was given this mission. Now, I'm not saying that he was outgoing, but he wasn't so emotionless. That cold personality you see, it's a protection for himself and the others around him. He doesn't allow himself to feel anymore. I don't think he realizes that's what makes Sakura such a good Cardcaptor. She feels and she cares, which is why all the Cards will end up with her.
The engagement? Oh, well, that's real, but there are some things about it that you don't know. You see, we were only to end up married if we didn't find anyone we wanted to be with by the time we were both twenty one. While there may be six years left until the deadline, I know that Syaoran has found the one he wants to be with. Now, if only I could make Sakura realize it too.
So, it really ends up on seeing who's point of view you want to take. Most people see it as me chasing him until I catch him. That's because they don't know. But, now you know what the truth is: me chasing him to her. I just hope that one day, they get the hint.
