We all hit those times at some point in our adult lives. On our own, an unsteady job, and wanting to live an exciting life. Along with that comes financial troubles, debt, having to pay off your wedding.
Percy and Annabeth were no different. I won't say why they had these issues, that's private, but I can tell you something slightly humorous that happened.
It was about a week after their visit to the Upper East Side Bank, meeting with Mr. Rodriguez, their bank teller. He had said they had some debt.
Well, a lot of debt.
It wasn't that they were wasteful, or didn't know how to handle money, it's just that being a swim coach doesn't make you a millionaire, nor does being an elementary History teacher. That was a fact.
So what did they do? In all circumstances, having a smart friend is a world of a help. Annabeth knew that at least, and she managed to drag Percy over to Ash's apartment in the Bronx. Of course, Percy was pulling the whole: "I'm a man, I can handle this on my own," thing.
"C'mon Percy! You're being ridiculous! There's nothing wrong with asking for help." Annabeth groaned, stepping into the passenger seat. Percy closed the door for her and hopped in, turning the keys into the ignition. The radio was playing Dark Horse by Katy Perry, and Annabeth laughed as Percy sighed loudly and shook his head. "What, you've seen the music video too? Singing about being Aphrodite while dressed as Nefertiti?" Percy nodded, keeping his eyes on the road.
"Even I would know to make a Google search!" It was a Sunday afternoon, the traffic busy as usual, but eventually, they parked in front of a Thai restaurant, the delicious smell of food waving through the air. "We should eat here when we're done." He mentioned, breathing in the aroma.
Annabeth nodded in agreement. "Sure! It smells amazing!"
They walked in. A man in his older twenties was opening a rice cooker, the steam shooting up as he lifted the lid. His chestnut brown hair was pulled back by a purple bandana with Attack on Titan characters dotting the fabric.
"Hey Ash!" He turned as Annabeth waved.
"Hey hey hey! If it isn't the Upper East Side crew! What's up my homies?" He laughed extending a hand to Annabeth, then Percy. Percy was taken aback by his laid back slang. Not exactly the type he was expecting to take financial advice from. As Ash walked them over to a table in the corner of the room, Annabeth and Percy took turns explaining the problem. Ash listened carefully, then started to advise them. Percy was surprised at how much he knew.
Finally, at last, they were about to leave. Ash gave them a bit of encouragement.
"Just hang in there, guys! Don't let your troubles pull you down!"
