"Api?" Angin's hesitant voice called out.

Api looked at Angin's eyes and for a moment, her courage faltered. He was her best friend, her anchor. If anything goes wrong, she'll lose him.

Api looked innocently confused as to why Angin seemed so hesitant, unknowing of the turmoil that was going on his best friend's brain. She then questioned herself that of all people, why would she have to fall in love with her best friend.

Angin closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Api... I'm sorry." She then kissed her best friend.

Api was shocked. When his mind registered what was happening, he immediately panicked and pushed Angin away.

"Api, are you okay?"

Api was breathing heavily. "No, no, no. You're just my best friend, Angin."

Angin looked hurt. "I know. But I love you, Api."

Api was shaking his head so vigorously. "No, you don't. You're just saying this because you pity me. So let me tell you this. I. Don't. Want. Your. Pity."

Angin looked in near tears. "Api, please. I'm telling you this because it's true."

"I... I can't." Api whispered and ran away. He could hear Angin, apologizing, pleading for him to come back, but all he could think of was the fact that Angin, his best friend, had kissed him.

With his heart thumping wildly in his chest, he went to the nearest bathroom and dashed into the nearest stall. He vomited the last of his lunch and shakily sat down after flushing the toilet.

Apis mind flooded with images that he had tried to supress. He saw how he desparately tried to make his parents proud, and how they just threw all of his achievements away. He watched as he reaches out to his parents only to be rejected and pushed away. He watched how his love was broken by his own family, throwing him away from their home.

Api had violently feared commitment after he left the house of his own family. He didn't want to feel that kind of pain again. So when Angin had kissed him, his fear overrode his rational mind and pushed his best friend away. Angin, who was there to help him stand on his own feet after falling down. Angin, who had become the anchor to keep him sane. Angin, his best friend, and he pushed her away.

Api's eyes were brimmed with tears. "I'm sorry Angin."
