He traced her jaw with the tip of his wand; digging it into the soft flesh under her chin and tipping her head back, relishing the fire in her eyes.

"It seems, my dear, that your trust was misplaced," he whispered in her ear, cruel smirk twisting his handsome features.

"You will not touch my son," she hissed through clenched teeth. He laughed, pressing his thumb down hard on her racing pulse point.

"I can see why he begged me to spare you," he gently cupped the back of her head, grabbing a fistful of her hair and pulling her head back in a quick harsh move that hindered her breathing.

"I will not let you near my son," she reiterated, her voice strained. "I will defend him with my life."

"Very well. It will make no difference."
