Jason Green quietly snuck out of his (and his band mates) cabin, the sun barely risen above the lake's horizontal figure. He clutched the guitars neck, swiftly sprinting toward the dock. He sighed, relieved, that it was unoccupied. On most days, no one was even awake at this time. But, sometimes, there would be a girl here. A girl with tan skin, curly brown hair. He never got a good look at her face - she was always dancing, twirling so much he couldn't see past her curls flipping everywhere. He made himself comfortable and began strumming the instrument, smiling slightly, and began to softly sing.

"Did you forget that I was even alive? Did you forget everything we ever had? Did you forget, did you forget about me?" He paused to add more notes, before starting up again. "Did you regret ever standing by my side? Did you forget what we were feeling inside? Now I'm left to forget about us." He let his fingers dance across the strings, looking out at the water, watching the orange sun slowly rise.

"But somewhere we went wrong. We were once so strong. Our love is like a song, you can't forget it." He sighed, stopping and running a hand through his hair. He bit his lip, allowing himself to play again. "So now I guess, this is where we have to stand. Did you regret ever holding my hand? Never again. Please don't forget. Don't forget." He swallowed, frowning as he messed up a chord and placed the guitar down. He leaned forward, placing his elbows on his knees and hiding in his face in his hands.

"You should sing more often." A voice said. His head snapped toward it. It was her. That girl. She smiled.

"Wh...What?" He asked, surprised.

"You have a really nice voice." She said, stepping closer.

"You think so?" He felt his cheeks get warm.

"Yep." She nodded. "I'm Caitlyn." She held out her hand.

"J-Jason." He answered, shaking it.

"You always come out here so early?"

"Do you?" He cocked an amused eyebrow. She laughed.

"Sometimes. I practice my dancing." She shrugged. "Can you finish that song?"

"Huh?"

"The song? Can you sing the rest to me?" She asked. He blinked.

"Sure." He whispered, picking the guitar up again. "We had it all. We were just about to fall even more in love than we were before. I won't forget, I won't forget about us." He noticed a soft smile on her face and paused.

"Keep going." She assured.

"Somewhere we went wrong. We were once so strong. Our love is like a song, you can't forget it at all." He didn't look up as his expert fingers strummed away at the strings. "And at last, all the pictures have been burned. And all the past is just a lesson that we've learned. I won't forget. Please don't forget about us." His voice cracked and he closed his eyes, taking in a small breath. He felt a comforting hand on his shoulder, and continued. "But somewhere we went wrong. Our love is like a song, but you won't sing along. You've forgotten about us." With a final strum, he smiled, and whispered; "Don't forget."

"Wow." She said, smiling. "That was amazing, Jason. Is that one of your new songs?"

"No. That's just something I wrote." He shrugged. "We usually just sing Shane's songs."

"Really?" Her nose crinkled. "Why?"

"The label said so."

"Oh." It was silent between them for a moment. "Uh, Jason?"

"Hm?" He looked up. She was staring. He blinked, confused. "Caitlyn?" She bit her lip, nervousness showing through her features. She took in a deep breath and took a step closer. Gently, she placed her hands on his cheeks and leaned down, capturing his lips with hers. His eyes widened in shock and his body stiffened. It didn't feel right. Sure, Caitlyn seemed like a nice girl. She was beautiful and everything but...

Not the one he wanted.
Because, Jason Green had a secret.
The secret behind the song.

Corny title for a corny end to the first part. :P
