The roar of the jetpacks was deafening. Imperial Guardsmen Erik Trask dove into a trench and screamed as the Chaos Raptors shot across the shell shocked battlefield. Their maniacal laughter echoed deep in his ears as the traitors ripped Erik's comrades to bloody ribbons with bolter and chainsword. A gore streaked Raptor shot over him, and Erik whimpered in fear, cowering even deeper in his hole. A commissar ran toward him, bolter in one hand and power sword in the other.
"Get up off your ass you scum! The Emperor demands it!" The agent of the Emperor leveled his bolter at Erik's head and flicked the safety off. "I'll only ask you once!"
Erik pushed himself up, wiping mud off of the end of his lasgun with a bit of combat webbing.
The commissar gasped. "You dare shame the Emperor by soiling one of his holy weapons? That's it, I was too lenient with you, foul Chaos spawn!!!"
Erik rolled his eyes under the brim of his helmet. "Oh sir, I am truly remorseful! Please, allow me the honor of ridding the galaxy of my hateful presence." He reached for his lasgun and pointed it at his stomach.
The commissar nodded. "Your repentance is noted trooper, and shall be included in my final report of this-"
BANG!
The commissar's eyes rolled back in his head, and his bolter dropped to his side. He dropped to his knees, and keeled over in the mud.
Erik lowered his lasgun and slung it over his shoulder. Clambering out of the trench, he found himself face to face with a Chaos Raptor.
"Hey, I saw you take out that commissar." He wheezed, his voice like a nail on a chalkboard. "Nice work. I don't normally do this, but I'm sick of taking orders, and I'm gonna split off from my legion pretty soon, maybe start my own warband or something, and I think there may be a place for you in my organization.
Erik stared at the massively armored marine and considered his offer.
"Do you have dental?"
"Hell yes! You never know when one of those Chaos Gods are gonna give you a set of tusks or something because they're bored. A comprehensive dental plan is essential to any Chaos Warband."
"I'm in."
