Carry You

Disclaimer: Anything you recognize isn't mine.

It's been a while since I did a drabble/ficlet, so I figured I would try my hands at it again. This one is for CTI_Jenn, for that lovely steamy extended version of her latest story after some (gentle) ribbing. Thank you for my beta, Trish.

SPOILERS for S05x03 - Run To Me.

Warning: A bit of a fluff. Or a lot.

"Sorry that you missed your game," Jules quietly wrapped her arms around his torso and leaned her head against his bare back. "I really appreciated you coming to the hospital with me."

Sam wiped his face with a towel and turned in her arms, combing his fingers through her hair. "Jules, I said it's no big deal. You would've done the same thing if the roles were reversed."

"Well, I'm not much of a hockey fan to begin with…" She teased, then stopped herself when he cocked his eyebrows. "But yes, if I were a hockey enthusiast who couldn't sleep the night before the playoffs and had to choose between the game and my boyfriend at the last second, I would totally pick him in a heartbeat."

Sam kissed her, grinning against her lips. "How wise of you," his expression turned somber as he brought a hand up to trace her jaw line with a lone finger. "You okay?"

"Everything ended up alright, so no reasons not to be okay."

He knew she knew it wasn't what he was referring to, but decided to let it slide. "I'm glad you met Officer Mary Fallon that night. Not only because you got to save many lives as an SRU, she also led you to me. I owe her."

She buried her head in his chest, laughing softly. "Actually, I have been there for a lot more years before you came along. But I'll not ruin the moment and say yes, you're right."

"Way to not ruin the moment, Julianna Callaghan." Sam chuckled along, keeping his voice low. He tilted her chin up and gazed into her eyes. "I know you're more than capable of taking care of yourself, and I know better than to tell you to do or not do anything, but just know if you ever feel that lost again, I'm here. Okay? It's a gift."

She felt her eyes suspiciously moist. "Just knowing you're here with me is enough to make me keep going when the days are rough. You're the wind beneath my wings."

Sam tightened his grip around her waist and effortlessly lifted her up, bringing her face to the same level as his. He pressed their lips together, holding the kiss until the need to breathe arose. "And you're mine."

They shared a smile, taking comfort in each other's presence. Sam loosened his hold on her slightly and lowered her down, still pressing her flush against him. Anchoring her arms around his broad shoulders, Jules rested her socks clad feet on top of his bare, cold ones. He sealed the snug embrace by resting his chin on top of her head before moving in slow circles, swaying them together to an imaginary music. The steady heartbeat beneath her ears soothed her wary soul, as always.

"I will always carry you, Jules." Sam muttered.

"Wouldn't have it any other way."

Okay, so it's all fluff. Oops.
