A/N: I've had this idea in my head for a while, but it ended up coming out a lot different from how I initially imagined it. Either way, I'm really happy with how this came out. Caitlin has always been one of my favorite Pokemon characters. This story is for a theme for the 100 Themes Challenge, and it's also inspired by the song "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson.

The sun was setting behind the young woman, shining brilliantly on the water. The great ship was about to set sail, making it Caitlin's last chance to be free of the Sinnoh region, and everything she knew. Although she was excited about her decision, when she looked into her lone companion's eyes, she saw her only regret.

"Well," Caitlin said. "It looks like this is goodbye."

"Yes," Darach responded in the formal tone she was used to. "I am sorry to see you go."

Caitlin nodded curtly. "I know. But it's for the best. I'm not a child anymore - you know that better than anyone else."

A tiny smile appeared on Darach's face. "I understand. But, Lady Caitlin..."

"Yes?"

Darach took a deep breath. "Are you sure you want to do this?"

Caitlin frowned. "I have made my decision, Darach. I can no longer stay here..." She sighed, uncomfortable with how vulnerable she was feeling. "I really wish it didn't have to be this way, but I just can't handle life in the castle anymore. I'm tired of being told what to do, of being forced to sit and look pretty instead of living the life I want. I can control my powers now. It's time for me to live that life. You understand...right?" She shot a desperate glance at her butler, wishing he would just let it go.

Darach bowed his head. "I understand, Lady Caitlin. I wish you the best of luck on your journey..." He looked up, and Caitlin was shocked to see the glimmer of tears in his eyes. "I'll miss you," he said softly.

Caitlin turned her back to him quickly. "It's time to go," she said. "I promise, I will visit one day. Take care, Darach..."

A loud horn sounded from the boat, and Caitlin boarded it quickly. Darach watched silently as the boat sailed away, and soon, the girl he loved was no longer in sight.
