I Can't Make it Right
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I crashed down from the sky,
then the sky crashed down on me
I had a family, a life, a perfect wife,
but I guess it just wasn't to be
Something deep inside me told me to stay
but I've never been one to listen,
my heart saw the future, though I don't know how,
And I didn't know what I had 'til it was missing
So I'm searching for something I don't have
on the streets and in my own mind
but all I've been searching for so long
are things I'll never find
The only thing I can do now is apologize
to the shadows on the doors at night
to the empty sky during the day- for everything
I can't make it right
I can deny it as much as I want- I can hope for forgiveness,
I can pretend I can wave my magic wand around in the air
and I could make things better then- I could make everything alright
but life's never going to be that fair
I guess I'm resigned to praying against prayers
and hoping against hope and lunacy
that one lonely boy who made it on his own
can forgive one regretful man's idiocy.
