Criminal Minds.
Chapter one.
Sweat is trickling down her face as she pushes herself more, gritting her teeth she mentally tells herself to keep going. Her legs want to give in but she knows she can keep going. Running faster she smirks as she realises she is about to beat her personal best. After months of running this particular circuit in this park, she is finally going to smash the target she had set for herself. Looking ahead she can see the finish line, the community board filled with local event and charity information. The beat coming through her headphones motivates her to move faster, the running tracks helping her keep pace. She breaths in deeply and out again, one last push and she's made it. Her heart rages against her chest, sweat covers her entire body and her pulse helps push the adrenaline around her body. She is so close now, she pushes harder and faster, feeling the burn. Her body screams, but she carries on. One last push and she has done it. Her body moves faster and she checks her time fleetingly, she knows she has this. A new personal best. She passes the big oak tree on her left. Two more minutes and she's finished. She can taste the victory as her feet assault the pavement, breathing faster and pushing harder, convincing her body. She's got this. She smiles as she begins the final stretch. The music pumping through her veins is suddenly interrupted by her screeching ring tone. The high pitched sound pierces through her ears and breaks her concentration. One minute until she breaks her record and she stops, leaning forward and breathing heavily she clicks the button on her headphones and says through broken breaths,
"This better be important Morgan!" Morgan's smooth tone comes through her headphones,
"Sorry JJ. We have a case."
Jennifer Jareau walks into the room where her colleagues await. She wears a dark blue pant suit and a thin grey jumper, a far cry from the sweat soaked running gear she had changed out of forty minutes ago. Taking a seat she swivels her chair towards the large television screen as Garcia commands everybody's attention. Flicking the switch on the remote she hold firmly, she keeps her back to the screen as the images flash up. Through her usual distressed and concerned voice she begins the briefing,
"May I direct your attention to the screen, which shows you the horrible dead body of a male victim. This ladies and gents is Allen Thomas Raines. His body was found this morning by some children walking to school."
The images flash up of a young man, around the age of 25. His body is full of bruises and cuts, blood covers every inch of his body and he is hanging from a tree by his arms. Both of his hands are bound together by the wrists with what looks like a silk tie. The image changes to a wide shot and the team can see that beneath the body is a message written on the floor in what looks like blood.
Aaron Hotchner takes over from Garica, looking at the files in front of his he thanks Garcia before saying,
"We have been invited into this investigation by Boston PD. With the brutality and obvious sadistic element in this murder, we have no time to lose. Wheels up in thirty."
