A/N: Given Raven's hellish relationship with her beloved father Trigon, "Daddy Lessons" by Beyoncé provoked thought within me. It made me want to write this short drabble/one-shot. Hope you enjoy.
Two superhumans thought it would be fun to wreak havoc in downtown Jump, but they didn't foresee the Titans intervening.
When will they ever learn? Raven asked herself as she kept the second guy—the weaker one in her opinion—busy.
Her black energy enshrouded a nearby trashcan and tossed it in his direction, only for him to dodge it.
"Nice throw, princess. Too bad you missed me." He also had a smart mouth.
She rolled her eyes and continued to navigate between offensive and defensive tactics. Beast Boy tried to subdue him with an aerial attack, but the miscreant projected kinetic energy at both Titans.
Beast Boy quickly flew out of the way while Raven protected herself with a black force field, deflecting the loudmouth's blast.
"Someone's got a party trick. Did your mom teach you how to do that? Or was it your daddy?" he asked.
She grimaced. He didn't know the half of what her father taught her.
The "daddy's little girl" line that her father liked to spew at her, that was just a meaningless epithet.
Her father taught her that she was a weapon of mass destruction. He wanted her to be his soldier, ready to carry out the task of bringing the human world to its knees. He only desired her as the catalyst for the end. In his four demonic eyes, that was her only purpose.
Her father taught her how to fear herself, to know that she would inflict suffering and pain to those she loved the most. He showed her how attachment and sentiment were futile. He reminded her that she was hellfire and brimstone.
Her father taught her that there was no escaping her heritage. He was everything that she wanted to hide. Her father served to insist that anything else she pursued was meaningless because there was no escaping him.
But as for her power and her strength and her endurance, he didn't teach her shit.
This show-off that she was fighting right now, he didn't know shit about her.
So, in response to this ignorant boy's question, Raven said, "No, he didn't teach me that. But I'll show you something that he gave me."
As her force field went down and she swiftly made her way towards him, Rage threatened to pounce.
