Author's note:

He guys. I rooted out a lot of grammar/construction errors. Not sure if I got them all this time, but I reckon it is a major improvement. I did retain my original author comments at the top and bottom, just me being nostalgic I suppose.

Kind Regards,

Hi, this is my first story so please don't be too cruel in your reviews. I just want to give it a try. If you find some grammar errors, don't hesitate to tell me, English is not my mother language so I'll be glad to have some help with it now and then ^^ . Hope you'll enjoy the start of my story.

1. Arrival of a familiar giant

The clear sky was decorated with millions of stars, making it look like a beautiful polka-dot blanket of black and white. The downside to this amazing magnificence was that the heat was no longer earthbound by the clouds and the dissipating warmth caused the night to be bitter and cold. Subsequently most animals had sought shelter in caves, trees or burrows, but even though the island of switchback-cove looked rather deserted because of it, not everything was as lifeless as one might think at first sight. At the beachside a strange black creature clambered ashore. Covered in bruises and painted with a long scar on its left arm in the shape of a half-moon it scrambled onto the dry land, leaving the log on which it had been floating to its fate.

When it felt the sand under its feet, it collapsed and sighed as a marathon runner who'd just completed his final sprint and was happy to finally made it to finish line. Whether the animal cried due to sadness, joy or just plain anger was uncertain. It might also be possible that the tears on its cheeks were actually drops of sea water.

After having laid down for a couple of minutes to catch its breath, it raised itself and headed further up the beach, looking around where it had washed up. Being able to act so quickly after getting out of the freezing water, we can only assume it to be warm blooded, and thus mammalian. Seeing a vast, dark forest and feeling a warm wind coming from inland, it took a deep breath and went for the strange country that lie before him.

After straying for a while, it had gotten slightly lighter. It was the time of day that most animals were still asleep yet the sun was starting to display the first sign of its upcoming daily performance. Suddenly the dark-furred mammal stopped, looked at a nearby tree, made a leap hereby grabbing a branch and swung itself up the tree. Looking out over the landscape there was a huge variety of trees. There were falls that ended in a crystal lake, cliffs of serious heights, grasslands overpopulated with a wide variety of flora, altogether a magnificent view everyone could appreciate. Everyone but this strange creature it seemed. It jumped down from the tree, landing smoothly on its feet and headed for the water it had just spotted.

Shy as the newcomer turned out to be, the first thing it did upon reaching the lake was making sure no-one else was in the vicinity of the lake by which it could be seen. Then it hopped towards the water's edge and drank greedily. The fresh water felt as a divine fluid after that horrible trip over the endless salty sea. The liquid filled all corners of his mouth and he made a satisfied sound. The grumbling sound of its tummy reminded him that a snack too would be welcome after his journey.

Searching the nearby undergrowth for fruits it heard a rustle in the bushes. It slowly turned around, but then, in one quick move, grabbed the unsuspecting molehog out of the bush which let out a cry surprising the grabber that in reply dropped the other on the ground.

"What are you sneaking arou… wait", the creature fell silent as it got a shock of recognition, "You!?"

Louis almost stumbled trying to get up, not yet catching sight of his attacker he immediately knew the tone of the voice. When he got up, he looked right into the eyes of a familiar giant primate.

"You…" he said anxiously.

I'll be updating as soon as I got myself some nice idea's. If think that takes too long, post some idea's you think are good and I'll consider 'm ^^ .
