One Short Day, We're Off To See The Wizard!
"Look at this! Elphie look at all of this!" marveled Glinda out loud as she tightened her grip on Elphaba's arm. They were finally here, the Emerald City.
Elphaba had to admit that the Emerald City was spectacular, and… emerald.
"It's grand, Glinda," said Elphaba looking around at the busy city.
"It's not just grand, it's PERFECT!" gushed Glinda, whirling around like a little girl on the street.
"I want to remember this day, forever. Nobody's staring or pointing, or laughing," spoke up Elphaba as she stopped along the street.
Glinda paused with her, and smiled at her.
"You look positively emerald," she laughed wrapping an arm around her friend.
Elphaba smiled back, and the two proceeded into the city.
They shopped, well more like Glinda shopped and helped Elphaba pick out stuff.
In the end, Elphaba came out with new "Emerald" appropriate glasses, and a new black dress. Glinda came out in a bright yellow dress that she thought was so pretty, and glasses as well.
As they walked along the streets, bored Glinda suddenly got an idea.
"I know what we should do! We should sing a song!"
Elphaba looked at her skeptically, "Oh, no Glinda. I don't sing,"
Glinda pouted, "Please? For me?"
Elphaba sighed heavily.
"What song?" she asked.
Glinda put a finger to her chin, and thought.
"It goes like this, we used to sing it all the time back in Pertha Hills:
We're off to see the Wizard! The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, we hear he is a whiz of a wiz that even has been or was. The Wizard of Oz is one because, because, because, because, because, because
Because of the Wonderful things he does! We're off to see the Wizard, the Wonderful Wizard of Ozzzzzz," she sang in her high soprano voice.
"That is ridiculous and stupid song," stated Elphaba right after she had finished singing.
"Oh come on, Elphie! Where is your spirit?" laughed Glinda as she hugged Elphaba.
"I guess I'm just nervous about meeting the Wizard," confessed Elphaba, looking at her best friend.
Glinda looked straight into her eyes.
"Don't be. You'll be…. Wonderful." And with that she and Elphaba began to sing the song together as they went down the street towards the Palace to finally meet The Wizard.
Five Years Later…
The Witch was stalking the stupid farm girl who killed Nessa, and boy was she something else.
For some reason, she and her friends kept singing a very familiar tune as they traveled down the Yellow Brick Road.
The Witch's ears pricked up at the tune, and she sighed thoughtfully.
"I'd thought I'd never hear that song again…."
