Shadow in the morning

An absolutely tiny one-shot but it's been in my mind for weeks so I had to get it out. My first Castle fic but I think its an alright first attempt. Reviews would be nice :D Phillippa x

Sunlight gently filtered through the blinds, dappling the floor covered with scattered clothing from the night before and the two bodies, entangled in each other even in sleep, whom the clothes belonged to. Sheets were delicately laid over the two but might aswell have been non-existent, they were acting as each others blankets; wrapped around each other and sharing their warmth, neither daring to let go, the fear of the other slipping away obviously ever present even in their unconscious minds.

The only sound in the room was the harmonized, mingling breaths of the occupants of Richard Castle's bed. Normal life in New York could be dimly recognised though, in the distant honking of car horns and the shuffling of people trying to find their way through the over-crowded streets. Last night had been a huge turning point for everyone involved in yesterday's events. A once unbreakable friendship destroyed by one simple act of supposed betrayal, two lovers finally united through an epiphany whilst hanging of a roof, the resignation of the once Detective currently asleep and a vow to put her in the ground once and for all. She really shouldn't have resigned, all it did was make things so much simpler for what needed to be done.

Suddenly her breathing started to become deeper as she began to awake from her peaceful slumber so he quietly shuffled away from the bedroom and crept out the front door. No one would ever know he was there and so the man know as Cole Maddox blended into the crowd, once again becoming a shadow.
