Margaret Tobin's nickname is "Unsinkable Molly Brown" after that tragic accident happened. I met with her and this is what she told me: "On April 1911, I board the grandest ship called R.M.S Titanic. People called the Titanic unsinkable, but I really didn't believe that. That cold night on April 14, 1912 made everybody realized that the ship could sink. They came to everybody's room and told us to wear something to keep us warm and to put our lifebelts on. I arrived on deck to see a throng of passengers, crewmen, and officers. The Passengers all around tried to get in lifeboats. Officers gave orders to the crewmen and they took them. I rushed to a lifeboat and one officer shouted, "Women and children only." I got into the boat, hoping and praying. They lowered our lifeboat into the water. Two crewmen rowed the boat away from the ship. The officer ordered them to pull faster, because the ship began to rise in the air. The crewmen stop rowing after awhile, we were pretty far now. We sat there watching and waiting. I feel so hopeless like a mother who tries to defend her kids from her abusive husband. Titanic kept rising higher. I can hear people screaming inside and outside the ship. I watch lots of people jump off the ship hitting the icy water, a leap that high you can tell their bones were already broken. People start climbing up towards the stern (back of ship), but some unfortunately didn't make it all the way. The stern started rising higher and the smokestacks strings fell on top of people. The ship made a noise I will never forget a creaking sound. The bow of Titanic split in half, leaving the stern in the air for awhile. Last piece of Titanic perished under water. Everyone one was in the water except for us in the lifeboats. I sat still trying to keep warm, but found it hard while people shouted help us and please save us. I got up and told the officer we need to go back. When he refused I threatened to throw him over board. But by the time we got there it was too late, but we managed to pull some people out of the water. Now I will tell you how I was known as the "unsinkable Molly." When Titanic sunk, I told stories about my life and sing Opera to people on my lifeboat. When we climbed on Carpathian I asked some of my friends to donate money. I made over $3000, 000 and gave it to the third class passengers, also some to second class. I did everything I could for the people that survived. This was the most horrifying tragic sinking in history. That's how I got my nickname." Note to the reader: Don't believe everything you get off the internet about Titanic, because a few facts are lies. I should know because I have been studying on it. Here is an Example (All these boats together could carry a maximum of 1,178 people). This is not true the capacity of the lifeboats can hold 75 people in each boat. Witnesses of the sinking will always have that memory and know what truly happened that frightful night.
