It wasn't until her ship was hurtling through the azure whirl of hyperspace that Ahsoka finally allowed herself to relax. She sagged back into the pilot's chair, letting out an exhausted breath as her eyes fell shut.
Everything was a mess. The Jedi all but wiped out, the Republic turning into a dictatorship, the clones turning on their leaders and gunning them down without mercy. Force, what was the galaxy coming to?
As the events of the last few weeks played out behind her eyelids, Ahsoka found her thoughts turning to the only thing that still made any sense to her. Rex.
They'd parted ways after Mandalore, each promising to stay safe even as they braced for the dangers ahead. She missed him already, wished they could've disappeared together the way they wanted to. But that risked attracting attention, and in this new and uncertain galaxy, attention could get you killed. Despite that, Ahsoka prayed that she could see her captain again soon. They'd guarded each other's backs for years, and would do so again if she had any say about it.
If it wasn't safe for Jedi or clone deserters right now, then she'd just have to make it safe. She couldn't be the only Jedi (former or otherwise) to escape the so-called emperor's purge. And even if she was, there were no doubt others who weren't interested in this new regime, all she had to do was find them.
As the makings of a plan took root in her mind, Ahsoka couldn't help but smile.
"War's not over yet, Rex old boy." she said aloud in the quiet confines of the cockpit "We just have to change tactics."
A/N: I LIVVVVEEEE! Yes, I am still alive, my dear readers. And with the announcement we got at SDCC, we have good reason to celebrate!
#CloneWarsSaved (man I love that tag)
This little blurb obviously takes place after the events of the recently announced new season. I wrote this for a few reasons: first, to celebrate the revival of one of television's greatest shows; second, as a means of kicking my brain back into a proper writing mode; and third, to celebrate the eagerly awaited end of the LONGEST move of my life.
Long story short, after planning for months to move to a new home for work, we got a phone call (as we're loading the moving truck) saying we were instead going to be moving to an entirely different location almost a thousand miles away from our previous destination. After days of long and frustrating travel, we arrived; where we faced faulty AC in hundred degree heat, obliterated plumbing, and sleeping bags on hardwood floors as we waited over a MONTH for the moving company to find a driver to bring our furniture from Destination A to Destination B. At last our things are here, and unpacking is well underway.
As always, I do not own Lucasfilm, Star Wars, or Disney (if I did, this revival would've come a LONG time ago). Reviews are the greatest show of appreciation, and I love you all 3
