The sky was pale grey even before one of the monsters locked inside Rumplestiltskin's pawn shop accidently broke loose and decided to go all crazy angry with Storybrooke. However now, when all that remains of the chaos is just dust and broken concrete, the sky feels a little clearer shade of blue and grey.
Regina and Emma both drained of energy after the fight, decide to take a little rest on the stairs of a shattered building nearby before making their way back to Henry. The wind is whistling through the tree leaves nearby and it all adds to the occasional calm that the town luckily gets.
"You would think that I will get used to all this by now. But it still drains me. I suppose you must be all used to it by now, being the savior and everything." Regina sighs.
"Nah… Still feels like every time is the first time. And God it is really exhausting. Day after day, you would think that this will end someday and it will all just go back to normal but nope, it just keeps coming. I mean really Regina…" Emma turns towards Regina intriguingly, "tell me how many types of evil did roam in your world because out here, I swear, its only money and booze."
Something lights up Regina's eyes for the moment and she laughs innocently, "Haah! More than you can count Miss Swan."
"Hey drop that. I like when you call me by name. Feels home." Emma chimes.
A plain good smirk finds its way through Regina's lips when she sees the blonde getting suddenly open.
"Oho… So I am your home now, Miss Swan!"
Emma's eyes twinkle now though the complaining still stands. "Drop it Regina please, for the sake of our kid if for nothing else."
Regina pauses, looks up towards Emma and her ever so soothing countenance which at the moment suddenly gives to confusion and then bewilderment. She decides to hold on to the peace of the moment.
"What?" Emma asks impatiently.
"It still feels so good every time you call Henry our kid."
"But that's who he is, our kid." Emma smiles so confidently and sincerely in that moment that it is hard for Regina to not to give into that smile that rises straight from her heart up to her eyes. It always feels so incredible, this strange companionship.
Regina tries to find the right words but falters with only one."Emma…"
Emma suddenly chirps up and smirks, "Reginaaa…"
"Oh Emma! Sometimes all I feel is that I am raising two kids!"
Emma finds it comforting to see that smile on Regina's face again. She childishly pouts instead. "Is that so bad?"
Regina melts immediately and reciprocates the smirk, "O not that again. That pout! O you evil little dalek!"
Emma suddenly jumps in excitement. "Wait what! Is someone indulging in Doctor Who now?"
Regina blushes, "Well you recommended it, and I actually love it now… a lone old soul from another world looking for companionship…how can I not?"
Emma practically is gleaming now, all signs of exhaustion evaporated. "You have no idea how happy I am."
"And why is that?" Regina entertains.
"I just am." The smile that now lingers on both their faces is more captivating than any other thing they have ever come across with.
Regina lingers a glance in Emma's eyes before she voices in fascination and absolute admiration, "Emma…"
"Yes…"
"Thank you for holding my back all this time, for trusting and believing in me when no one else would. Thank you for making me feel at home after all this time."
Emma recognizes the sincerity in Regina's voice and somehow just wants nothing more but to let her know that she is loved and cared. Instead she just gently holds Regina's hand and nudges with an ever so genuine smile, "Thank you for letting me."
