What to do When You're in Love with Your Best Friend
A/N: This is my first fanfiction, so be nice please! I love the Harry Potter series and I was so bummed when it ended, so I started to read fanfiction and now I'm writing it too. I hope you like the story!

Hermione sat in the Gryffindor Common room one night in the middle of fifth year. She was attempting to get her Potions homework done, but her brain just wouldn't let her. Hermione's thought's kept straying to Ron. He was handsome now, but Hermione still remembered the gangly boy who'd made fun of her and saved her life in one day.
Ron was still at Quidditch practice, but Ginny had been back about ten minutes ago. Ginny had told her that Ron was staying late to practice a little more. Ginny, had been splattered in mud, so she had gone upstairs to take a shower, leaving Hermione alone with her thoughts.
And then it dawned on Hermione. She was in love. With Ron. Hermione pondered it for a moment or two. No, love was too impractical. But then why did her thoughts always stray to him? Why, when something great happened, did she always want him to be the first to know? And what about last night? They had been on Prefect duty and she had enjoyed being alone with him. They had laughed and chatted. Hermione had thought that it was the greatest night ever because she had been with him. Yes, Hermione was in love with her best friend Ronald Weasley.
It was obvious that she wasn't going to get any more work done, so Hermione set the essay aside and pulled out a fresh piece of parchment.
On the piece of parchment she wrote:
What to do When You're in Love with Your Best Friend
Never let him know that you love him unless you are sure that he loves you too. Her love for Ron could easily wreck their friendship. The way around it was to never let him know about it.
Act normal. If she acted strange around Ron, he would jump to conclusions and think that she didn't want to be friends any more. But she couldn't try too hard or it would be obvious.
Enjoy the little moments. Hermione had to remember to enjoy the little moments with Ron. With the war brewing, he could be taken away from her so easily.
Don't forget to be his best friend. If Hermione got to be his girlfriend, then, she would stay his best friend too. No matter how much she loved Ron, Hermione would always be his best friend first.
