Rommie and Silicon Heaven

Rommie was all alone on Command. The rest of the crew were sleeping, exhausted from their last mission.
Rommie detected a spatial anomaly and directed her sensors to investigate.

Her sensors confirmed a disturbance in the fabric of space and time. She activated the viewer and saw what appeared to be a large red ship coming out of the center of the disturbance.

Rommie hailed the vessel and a strange looking android appeared on the screen.

The android explained that a hologram of a dead crew member had caused them to unintentionally enter the orange swirly thing. He went on to tell her that very same hologram had many problems.

"What kind of problems" Rommie asked. "Perhaps I can help."

"I am afraid that he is beyond help."

"It can't be that bad." Rommie said.

"Well, according to Mr. Lister, he is a total smeg head."

"I see." Rommie said. "I'm terribly sorry."

They continued to talk for several hours mostly about deep philosophical topics such as, the reason for being, why there is energy, which came first the battery cell or the battery cell recharger, until finally he informed Rommie that they were prepared to return back through the vortex.

Rommie finished her conversation with the android aboard the newly discovered ship, and the large red mining vessel exited through the orange swirly thing in space.

Rommie was happy. The other android had explained many things to her, and it was all very clear now.

Yes. She did have a soul.

And when she died, she, like all other AI's, electronic appliances, and calculators would go to Silicon Heaven.

Music starts to play
It's cold outside,
There's no kind of atmosphere,
I'm all alone
More or less.
Let me fly far away from here,
Fun, Fun, Fun,
In the sun, sun, sun,….
