Standard Disclaimer: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation doesn't belong to me. The pity. And Archie Johnson belongs to Archie Kao and CSI. More's the pity.

My whole life has evolved around pictures. As a kid my dad never let me hold his treasured camera; it wasn't a slight, none of my siblings were allowed to touch it. Not even mom. But dad made up for it, taking pictures of all of us whenever he could. Candid shots when we let our guard down for one second too long. At family gatherings where cousins banded together instead of picking on one another.

I guess you could say I continued the tradition. What you see on a television screen is hundreds of pictures flowing from one picture to another to create the greatest addiction worldwide. Every household in America has a television, if not more. I only have one but it's a forty-inch screen; with my surround sound speakers and my huge DVD collection I can run a small theatre out of my home.

I consider myself very fortunate to have a job that I enjoy. The hours may be long and the work can be tedious but it all boils down to one thing. My eyes can be a turning point to a case. DNA, trace and ballistic evidence all have their place and importance, I'm not so foolish to deny that. But it all means nothing without the person, the image, to connect it all to. A name or a word may sound familiar to a person but show that person a photo and he or she will more likely recognise the subject.

A picture says a thousand words.

But a thank you is just as satisfactory.
