Just a quick little oneshot that I was asked to do. Sorry if it's a little choppy, this was pulled out of my head in about half an hour. I was trying to beat a deadline.
Olivia Benson stood at the grill with her father in-law arguing over the best way to cook the burgers and hotdogs. "Dad trust me, if you keep pressing the burgers they are going to dry out!"
"They will not, I've been grilling since before you were born Olivia." Alexander Cabot said as he bumped her shoulder and took the spatula from her . "Go get us a couple beers while I finish these off."
Smiling and shaking her head Liv walked over to the cooler and pulled two beers from the ice. Turning to go back to Xander, a site by the pool caught her eye. There stood Alex laughing and smiling with their mothers, the setting sun making her face glow even brighter than normal.
Alex looked up and winked at Liv before turning back to her conversation. There was no site more beautiful then her wife smiling. Cracking open the bottles she walked back to Xander handing him his beer.
"Thanks Liv, why don't you go join the girls? This is almost ready and I think Elliot has the fireworks under control." Xander offered as he moved burgers onto platters.
Olivia was about to argue with him again when a noise came from her belt. "Saved by the bell dad. If you need anything ask Finn to help you." Turning she walked into the house.
Alex scanned the backyard for Liv as the last rays of sun disappeared from the sky. The fireworks were set to start at any moment and she didn't want to miss watching them with her wife.
After searching the house Alex finally found Liv standing on the patio outside their bedroom. Walking over she wrapped her arms around her wife's waist.
"There you are, I've been looking everywhere for you sweetie, I didn't want to miss watching the fireworks with you." Alex said kissing Liv's neck.
"Sorry baby, but someone wanted to watch them with us." Both women looked down in Olivia's arms to the blonde haired, blue eyed baby girl waving her fists around. "Sami wanted to see her first fireworks."
Alex leaned down and kissed Sami on the head and took the kiss Liv offered. "I can't imagine a better way to spend the holiday then watching fireworks with the two Benson girls that have stolen my heart."
Liv leaned back and stole another kiss over her shoulder as the first explosion of colors lit up the sky. "Happy 4th of July my love."
